- Clava Cairns - Our first stop we find The Clava Cairns—or the Prehistoric Burial Cairns of Balnuaran of Clava—are all that remains of what was once a much larger Bronze Age burial complex. Dating back 4,000 years, the evocative cemetery site retains original features, including passage graves, standing stones, and ring cairns (stone circles).

Experience the highlands with our half-day essential tour from Inverness.
We’ll begin our journey at Clava Cairns, home to the famous standing stones depicted in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series. Learn about the history and secrets of this 4000-year-old landmark with our experienced tour guide.
We then move to the site of the historic 1746 battle at Culloden Moor. It was here, in April in freezing, wet conditions that the Highlanders’ way of life was changed forever after the Jacobites clashed with King George II’s army.
Next, experience the magic and mystery of the world-renowned Loch Ness. Don’t forget your camera - you never know if Nessie might surprise us with a visit.
Following that, we’ll sample some local spirits with a free taste of Gin at the award-winning Great Glen Distillery, made with water from Loch Ness itself.
Last but not least, we’ll stop at Scotland’s most romantic ruin, Urquhart castle. Discover a millennium’s worth of history at this picturesque spot.

Amazing tour and guide!! - This was honestly one of the best tours of our entire three week trip to the UK! Richie is awesome!! He is incredibly nice and friendly and makes you feel like family. We lucked out and were the only people so we felt like we got a private tour! The places we saw were rich in history and beauty and Richie made sure to explain in detail lots of interesting facts and stories at all of the places we saw! Even though it’s a half day tour you feel like it’s a full day because you see so much amazing stuff! If you want to see Inverness absolutely book this tour, you will not regret it!!

Fantastic local’s experience - Wonderful tour!! Richie was kind and approachable, knowledgeable and entertaining. He went out of his way to cater to our requests, and made our short visit to Inverness very special. He took us to several places the larger tours wouldn’t, and we really feel like we received a local’s experience.

Bucket list with great guide! - Richie, our guide, was absolutely fantastic! He made the trip great. He knew his history and planned every stop perfectly! He even made an extra stop for us to see some coos! Would absolutely recommend this tour and Richie! He was lovely to spend the day with!

November 2023 Trip - Richie was an amazing tour guide. I booked this tour for my mother and I and he was exceptional. The time allotted for each stop was perfect and allowed us to take our time viewing the beauties of Scotland. We will definitely be back!

Perfect Inverness tour - Richie was amazing! So friendly and knowledgeable. Really took care of us, driving us to all the best spots in Inverness. 5hrs was perfect, spending the right amount of time at each location. Highly recommend this tour if you want to hit the Outlander spots in half a day.
