Fun at Himeji Castle - It was a great experience visiting Himeji castle. Our guide Ryuji-san did a great job walking us through the castle and explaining the interesting parts of the castle. We definitely recommend to have the guide.

Fun and knowledgeable trip to Himeji Castle - Our guide was very knowledgeable. He provided us some very interesting history. He made sure he let us know when something was his opinion. He was funny as well and answered all of our questions. We had a wonderful time Ryuji. He took his time and shared details about the castle with the family. The castle is amazing and beautiful. The grounds are fun to explore. After the castle we made our way to the gardens. The walk through the gardens is about 20 to 30 minutes.

Amazing Castle. - Ryuji was an excellent guide. He had many interesting facts and answered many questions about the castle and area. He also would indicate when he didn’t know something which we really appreciated. He was a lot of fun and I would recommend this tour with Ryuji to anyone.

Amazing Tour of Himeji Castle - Visiting Himeji Castle was an unforgettable experience, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the tour. The castle itself is a masterpiece of history and architecture, but what truly elevated the visit was our incredible guide.
The guide was exceptionally well-informed, providing fascinating details about the castle’s history, construction, and cultural significance. They brought the stories of Himeji Castle to life, sharing insights that I would have missed exploring on my own.

Very historical, interesting, and fun tour experience! - Matsuyama-san was the nicest, friendliest, and super educated on Himeji-jo and all things related to Himeji-shi. He knew all of the best spots for photos and in depth historical information. He also has lived in the city for most of his life and can recommend great restaurants or other sites to see.

Great Experience! - You really need a guide to understand all of the details of this place! Our guide Ryuji was very friendly, knowledgeable, and was from the area. He taught us so much and pointed out things that we never even would have noticed. He came prepared with a flashlight too! Other people were listening to him talk to us because he knew so much!
Also, Ryuji was early to the meeting point and got us going on the tour right away. Great time!

Best tour guide in Japan - Ryuji is the best and most versatile guide we’ve had in Japan! This father-daughter pair could have happily spent the whole day with him.
Ryuji has an excellent ability to blend the history of Himeji Castle into the feudal and later periods of Japan. He answered all our questions at the right level of detail and with a touch of humor. Ryuji easily put Himeji in the context of the nearby Osaka Castle we had visited the preceding day —- he really knows his stuff.
Ryuji shares his love of the architectural details, their military functions and the challenges they presented during the post-war restoration. He really knows how they built back then and what’s (literally) hidden within it’s walls.
To top it off, Ryuji was glad to answer some of our questions about contemporary japanese politics and ask a few of his own about developments in the US. He was thoughtful and speaks good English.
We had a great time and learned a lot that we otherwise would have walked right past!

Great guided tour - Nishi was an excellent guide for the castle. She has great knowledge of the history and culture surrounding Himeji and was very interesting to listen to. We would have missed so much by going to the castle on our own. Nishki made the visit really worthwhile. I highly recommend this tour.

Most amazing guided tour with Ryuji! - My partner and I have been to many castles in Japan and we both loved Himeji castle the best because of the guided tour Ryuji provided us. Thanks to him, we were able to appreciate the history and culture of the castle that we would not have been able to experience if it weren’t for him! Ryuji was so knowledgeable and passionate about Himeji which made the experience 1000% better. He was extremely accommodating to us and knew all the best photo spots which we definitely appreciated. The amount of detail he goes through during the tour just makes the tour so interactive and fun! Bonus, he’s also pretty funny ☺️ It is 1000000000000% a must to have a guided tour of Himeji castle and it’s even better if you’re lucky to get Ryuji!
