Wonderful bicycle tour - We had a great bike tour with the talkative guide Shin. He shared a lot of personal moments with us, so he was able to bring us much closer to the history than the history books ever could. It was a wonderful experience with him. We can highly recommend the bike tour in Hiroshima.

I thought the smiles of children were peaceful. - I have been to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum several times, but this was my first time to participate in a peace tour, where I cycled around the peace heritage sites remaining in the city of Hiroshima (on an electric bicycle). It was a completely different feeling from the peace training I had received in the past. At the museum, I became more conscious of peace by learning about the tragic reality of the atomic bomb, but as I walked around Hiroshima city listening to the local guide's stories and feeling the history, culture, and climate of Hiroshima, I started thinking about how we can all work together to create peace. I think this is because I was able to hear the thoughts and voices of each person living in Hiroshima city about the time just before the atomic bomb was dropped, the moment of the explosion, immediately after the bombing, and the reconstruction. I lived in Hiroshima city for 11 years, but there were many memorial monuments that I had not known about, and I learned that each one has a thought for the people who died, their families, and their friends. This time, it was only for one day, but I would have liked to hear the stories. Next time, I would like to come to Hiroshima again with my children and family. I would like to spread this experience to many people. Thank you very much.

A wonderful trip that your children will never forget. - We were guided along a long course. Starting from the Peace Memorial Park, we cycled around the Atomic Bomb Dome, the Cenotaph, the Peace Memorial Museum, the Peace Bridge, the Hiroshima Red Cross Atomic Bomb Hospital, the Hiroshima Electric Railway Headquarters, the riverside where the mayor of Hiroshima lived at the time, and a bakery that has been there since then. It was a three-hour tour packed with the kind of attentive local guidance and the passion of our guide, Toby. We learned not only about the tragic aspects of the atomic bomb, but also about the strength and warmth of the Hiroshima people who rose up afterwards, and although it was my first visit to Hiroshima, I became a big fan of Hiroshima. At the end of the tour, I felt very positive and optimistic about peace. I participated with my two children, a second- and fourth-graders, and although the topics were difficult, the explanations were easy to understand for children, and the tour was full of laughter, with puns and quizzes mixed in. The children listened to the talk with great interest from beginning to end, and even after returning to Tokyo, they enthusiastically explained the stories that Toby had told them to their grandmother. It seems that this was a precious memory that the children will never forget. Currently, my children are attending a cram school to prepare for their junior high school entrance exams, but rather than just "studying" from textbooks and flat maps, I think they have come to enjoy "learning" about society by seeing, touching, hearing and feeling actual events that actually happen in the world. Thank you very much.

A passionate message from Hiroshima people - As I enjoyed the pleasant ride, I was moved by the many heartfelt stories that conveyed not only the horrors of war but also the desire and importance of peace. I was reminded that because war is a man-made disaster started by humans, it is also humans who must protect the happiness of living in peace. I strongly felt that I wanted as many people as possible to experience and feel this way.

Don’t miss this tour! - We did so many fabulous things in Japan and this cycling tour was just meant to be a quick glimpse into the city’s history for our teenage son… wow, it was so much more. Shin was the most incredible guide, he was able to make us think, to chat about life, to bring us to tears and to make us laugh. He shared factual history interspersed with personal family stories whilst maintaining a wonderfully positive manner which combined to be hugely engaging and poignant. The ride was flat and the e-bikes made it effortless. We can’t recommend this tour highly enough.
