- Hiroshima Castle Sannomaru Ruins - Kyudo is a traditional Japanese martial art that involves shooting an arrow from a Japanese bow to achieve complete mental and physical focus. Unlike Western archery, kyudo emphasizes a series of traditional movements that honor both the equipment and the opponent. Participants will visit the archery range and don an authentic kyudo uniform, which includes the dogi (upper garment) and hakama (lower garment). A brief introduction to the art of kyudo will be provided, along with instructions and demonstrations. With this newfound knowledge, participants will learn to shoot arrows at the target, experiencing the enjoyable and challenging aspects of the sport, especially while wearing the traditional hakama and armor. Typically, in kyudo, one is not permitted to draw the arrow without mastering the basics. However, during this lesson, even complete beginners can enjoy an authentic kyudo experience. It’s a wonderful opportunity for those seeking memorable photos or videos to share with friends.
