A spiritual experience - What a wonderful experience this was for us. Surprisingly more beautiful than we could’ve expected and Naomi was an amazing guide. Naomi is warm friendly and took time to get to know us so that the whole experience is very personal. Highly recommended.

A must do for anyone visiting Hiroshima - The Asageshki tour is a spiritual ascent through Hiroshima’s Toshogu Shrine, culminating in a wonderful tea ceremony atop a mountain. Guided by Naomi, a knowledgeable local, the experience is both enlightening and invigorating. The journey through the mountains landscapes and historic sites is complemented by Naomi’s insights. The tour concludes with a visit to a renowned Okonomiyaki spot, where the flavors are as memorable as the views. In essence, it’s a harmonious blend of culture, nature, and cuisine—a quintessential Hiroshima adventure.

Hike, tradition, history, mediation in nature with calming tea ceremony. - This event was excellent! Our guide Naomi had a wonderful way of sharing Japanese Shinto traditions, nature, a physical hike as well as an introduction to forest bathing. And then she topped it all off with a traditional ceremony outdoors. This was one of the top events of our 15 day Japan trip!

Discover the charm of Hiroshima - I have visited Hiroshima many times, but I was thrilled to experience a new side of Hiroshima through the Asageshiki tour. The guide was also careful about safety at key points, so I was able to walk safely. I never thought I would be able to experience forest bathing in the center of Hiroshima, so it was a refreshing experience. I would definitely like to participate again if I have the opportunity.

Morning hike - It was a nice hike in an area not often visited by tourists. I learned a lot about Hiroshima and tea ceremonies from Naomi. I went on a very cloudy day so the view from the mountain wasn't as picturesque but the foggy atmosphere on the mountain had its own charm.

Pretty good. - I was lucky when I went, as the weather was very nice. The guide was very nice, cheerful and friendly, and knew a lot. 🙂 As someone who is used to walking around on my own, walking fast, and not spending too long at each shrine/temple etc before moving on to the next spot, I must admit that it was a bit of a struggle for me at first to walk slowly, and having to stop for extended periods of time at every minor object to listen to the guide talk about all sorts of things. I found myself growing impatient, and just wanting to move on. But then the guide told us lots of interesting facts I did not know, both about the shrines and objects, but also about Japanese customs and religion in general, and I got more used to it, and liked it. We climbed up the stairs and steps of the mountain, through many small gates, through the forest, and got a great view of the city and surrounding islands and landscape from the top. There were also nice cherry blossoms. Later we had a tea ceremony, which I thought was going to be boring, but actually turned out to be very nice, in a great outdoor spot, overlooking the city in the nice weather. The tea was good as well. My only complaint would be that after reaching the top, but before the ceremony, we had an activity where we were meant to use our different senses in the forest, and this involved digging in the soil to smell it, and pretending a tree was a person, and being asked lots of weird questions by the guide, such as (not direct quotes) "what do you think are this tree's dreams for the future?", "do you think it is a boy, girl, man or woman?" etc. Honestly, this particular activity was pretty silly to me, and kind of felt like a waste of time, as it went on for quite some time. Other than that though, everything else was great.
