During the tour, there will be opportunities to enter several breweries to learn about the various types of sake produced in this town.
As part of the experience, participants will engage in sake tasting, sampling Saijo’s renowned sake from a variety of breweries. The town’s location offers ideal natural conditions for sake brewing, complemented by Hiroshima-grown rice and Saijo’s brewing techniques, allowing guests to taste some of the finest sake in Western Japan. Additionally, visitors can purchase sake bottles and other souvenirs at the different breweries.
- Mitate Shrine - This Shinto shrine is dedicated to the deities of Japan’s native religion. Visitors will find shrines of various sizes, each honoring a different deity. Among them is the Matsuo Shrine, which holds a special place for the people of Saijo. It contains a ritually divided part of the god from the original Kyoto Matsuo Shrine, believed to bless sake making, and is deeply revered by the locals. Guests will learn how to pray at a Shinto shrine and may choose to participate in the ritual if they wish.
