- Hisor Fortress - Our city tour will start with a visit to Hissor Fortress, one of the main historical sights of the country, about half an hour’s drive from the city. The fortress was built about 3000 years ago, during the heyday, when the routes of the Great Silk Road passed near Hissar. The Hissar Fortress is one of the oldest and largest architectural monuments of Central Asia. Now it is an open-air museum with an area of 86 hectares, located on the site of an ancient settlement. It is located 30 km from the capital of Tajikistan. For a long time, the Hissar fortress served as the residence of the governor of the Emir of Bukhara. To date, only two cylindrical towers and structures around the main gate, forming a pointed arch, and built on the instructions of the emir of Bukhara in the XVI century.

Discover the new capital of Tajikistan Dushanbe and the ancient town Hissar. Today you will go to the fortress of Hisar (VII–XVII centuries), which is 35 km away from the city. There are fortified areas and a citadel on this historical site. The fortress served as the residence of the Emir of Bukhara. Its location was on a high hill, and the gun loopholes protected a 1-meter wall. Inside the fortress, there was a garden, and opposite, there was a lively market with a caravanserai and shops. After you willvisit main sights of Dushanbe: National Museum, Mosque, Bazar, independence square.

I can't wait to come back and enjoy another tour! - Tajikistan is rich in history and extremely beautiful. Every place we stopped at I was welcomed with open arms. Dave was very knowledgeable and passionate about his country. He was just as excited about showing me the sights, trying new foods as I was. Only downside is, I was alone for business and my wife couldn't enjoy it with me.

Excellent half day tour - Though mostly restored, the place still has a lot of original structures. It is very impressive and worth the visit. The museum is very nice as well

Super Awesome tour of Hissar and Dushanbe! - Fabulous tour of the ancient Hissar fortress and the historic city of Dushanbe! I learned a lot from Dilik my guide who was a literal walking history book. He came on time and was very nice. The day was perfect as organized by Oriz and did it according to my pace. I highly recommend this tour if you would like to know more about Tajikistan you won’t regret it!!

Super Awesome tour of Tajikistan - Fantastic awesome day tour of Dushanbe and Hissar! My guide Dilik was on time, friendly, professional and a walking history book! He showed me the amazing Hissar fortress as well as the absolutely stunning sites of Dushanbe. I did not feel rushed and I learned a lot from this tour! I cannot stress enough how great this tour is! It is worth the price I Paid for especially for a private tour. This is a 5 star experience, much better than tours in other countries like in Europe lol

Great day - I highly recommend this trip especially if you’re in Dushanbe for a day or would like to see or pass by the main sights in 1 day. The guide Dilnoza and driver Daler were really great! Dilnoza was very informative and did not rush through anything. I didn’t feel tired with visiting all these places. We stopped for a samsa break during the tour, and she was sweet enough to help me get postal stamps.

A great tour - This was a great tour. When booking look for “Kamila”, she is a great guide.
I recommend this tour 100% if you have 1 day and want to get the most of Tajikistan.

Great guidance in Hissar and Dushanbe - I am delighted to have Dilik as my guide - He is resourceful, fun to talk with. I learn a lot about Tajikistan on this excursion.
The program is perfect itself, as I won’t spend whole day in Hissar which doesn’t offer much activity.
