Highlights
  • Ho Chi Minh City - Guests will be picked up from the accommodation in District 1, District 3 and District 4 before the tour start. The pickup usually takes around 30 minutes.

After the pickup, you will head to Cu Chi to discover the Tunnels history.

  • Ben Duoc tunnel complex - The Cu Chi Tunnels, located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, were an extensive network of underground tunnels that served as a critical strategic location during the Vietnam War. Constructed over several years, the tunnels spanned more than 250 kilometers and were made up of multiple layers, including living quarters, kitchens, meeting rooms, hospitals, and even schools. The tunnels were dug by hand, using rudimentary tools such as shovels, hoes, and picks, and the workers would remove the soil from the tunnels and conceal it in nearby fields to avoid detection.

Navigating through the Cu Chi Tunnels was a complex task, requiring specialized knowledge and training. The tunnels were narrow, with a height of only a few feet, and were often filled with traps and obstacles, such as spike pits and hidden doors. The Viet Cong soldiers were trained to move silently and quickly through the tunnels, using their knowledge of the terrain to avoid detection.

  • Ho Chi Minh City - The tour will ends back to your Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Traveler who wish to be dropped off near the airport, please inform us anytime possible.

Additional Information

Joy Journeys always care for our client’s experience. All of our tours have a small group with maximum of 10 guests visiting Cu Chi Tunnels. Our group will spend most of the time at Ben Duoc Tunnels which is well-known as the less-crowded, less-busy, and more authentic experience time in Cu Chi.

Our tour offers a unique opportunity to witness the war history of Vietnam by exploring the underground Cu Chi Tunnels. You’ll have the chance to see the booby traps used during the war and explore the ex-US Army tank from the Vietnam War by touching it.

Additionally, you’ll be able to crawl inside the tunnels of Cu Chi and taste the locally grown Viet Cong food, tapioca, next to the tunnels. Finally, you’ll witness the propaganda of Viet Cong soldiers in Tan Phu Trung Ward and experience the underground Hoang Cam kitchen.

The highlight of the tour is when you can experience crawling into the Tunnels to feel what it was like during the war.

Cu Chi tunnel tour a must - This was my 2nd time going to Cu Chi! The first was in 2003. There’s absolutely no comparison. In 2003, we crawled for 15 minutes to level 1. Didn’t go to level 2 because it was 30 more mins. Fast forward to 2024…and the tunnels are really accessible with stairs!!! There are model replicas of the Viet Cong - like the surgeons in the hospital. So informative. Our guide Tommy was knowledgeable and I learned so much more about how the tunnels came to be and the role of the CuChi villagers. Transportation was super comfortable and we were picked up/dropped off at our hotel.

Excellent tour with the family - I went with my mom and aunts there and it was one hell of an experience and at the same time educational, our guide Tom from Joy Journeys did a good job in talking about how hard the Vietnamese fought against the French and Americans. The tour also is a showcase of the ingenuity of the Vietnamese shown through their tunnels and traps. We also learned about the reality of the aftermath of the war and the devastating effects of it to the Vietnamese Overall the tour was awesome, well-paced. I will also highly recommend Joy Journeys and our tour guide Tom to my friends.

Amazing Cu chi tunnels half day tour with family - We booked a second tour the day after our Mekong Delta tour with Tom and requested their office to assign him to our group again. Tom took us to Cu Chi Tunnels Ben Duoc and the handicraft factory for the benefit of the victims of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. We learned more about the patriotism and culture of the people, their fearless approach to war that earned so much respect and admiration from our group. Pace of tour was also not too fast, everything was smooth. Will definitely recommend Tom and Joy Journeys to friends!

Informative and interesting trip - This was a really interesting trip and definitely worth doing if you have the time. It gives you a real insight into the work of the Viet Cong. It's quite a lot of driving out of HCMC and back however our lovely guide Helen made time pass quickly. She was great fun. The stop at the art workshop was really interesting. Purchases are pricey however reflect the craftsmanship that goes into making them and my jewellery box will be a beautiful reminder of an amazing holiday. Helen made sure I was back in time for a quick shower before my flight home. Thank you Joy Journeys!

Great Tour of the tunnels - We were taken on this tour by Safa. He was quite funny and spoke really good English. He spoke about all areas of the tunnels and was able to give us a lot of information. It definately was less crowded and we were able to get around with ease.

Great experience! - We had a fantastic time at the Ben Duoc tunnels and we would highly recommend this well paced trip with a small group in a mini bus. 'Tom' our tour guide was very knowledgeable and his English was just perfect and his driver was good too! It is very hot - we would recommend taking a fan. There are drink and ice cream stalls on site but we would also suggest taking an extra snack - especially if taking the 12pm tour as we were picked up early at 11:30 (before lunch) and we were absolutely starving by the time we got back to our hotel in the evening, not having eaten since breakfast.

Absolutely recommended - Tommy our guide was great: clear in his explanations, he provided useful info and comments The trip in minivan was comfortable while tunnels were simply worth seeing them. The few people both in the site and of the tour let us fully enjoy the visit

Good, well organised trip to Cu Chi - Our guide Tommy was great - he shared his family’s personal story of the war to help us understand better. Easy to book online. I would have preferred the tour didn’t stop at the laquer art workshop to be shorter or mention this in the description. It’s quite a long day otherwise to not stop for lunch until after returning to HCMC between 2-3.
