Previously called the ‘Museum of American War Crimes,’ it stands as a poignant reminder of the prolonged and brutal Vietnam War. The museum displays photographs and military equipment from the United States, including a rocket-launching helicopter, a tank, a fighter jet, and a single-seat attack aircraft. Additionally, a conventional bomb weighing 6,800kg is on display. These weapons were used by American forces against the Vietnamese between 1945 and 1975.
• Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral - Known as the ‘Paris of the East,’ Saigon’s Notre Dame Cathedral features distinctive twin towers constructed with bricks imported from Marseille, France. Nearby, the historic Post Office offers a great opportunity to capture photographs of Vietnam’s bustling, modern city.
• The Independence Palace - The Reunification Palace, formerly the Presidential Palace, is a significant landmark from the era when the communist Vietnamese gained independence during the ‘Fall of Saigon’ in 1975. Built with Soviet assistance in the 1960s, the palace is a striking structure. The tank that crashed through its gates on April 30, 1975, symbolizing ‘The Fall,’ still stands in the front yard.
• Central Post Office - The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is a beautifully preserved example of French colonial architecture and is perhaps the finest post office in Southeast Asia.
