Experience the vibrant local life of Saigon beyond District 1 on a scooter excursion. Discover hidden gems, cultural insights, and the authentic charm of this energetic city.
At 08:00 AM, our English-speaking driver team will pick you up from your hotel or a specified location.
First, we’ll head to District 3 and stop at a corner to learn about the mysterious story of Thich Quang Duc, who self-immolated in 1963 to protest the persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government.
Next, we’ll visit a renowned local wet market and navigate through alleys to reach the city’s largest flower market, which supplies a wide variety of flowers, mostly sourced from Sadec city in the Mekong Delta.
We’ll then stop at a local coffee shop to enjoy Vietnamese coffee and observe the bustling streets. Our journey continues to Thien Hau Temple (the Lady of the Sea), built by Chinese settlers in 1760 with materials imported from China. This temple is highly regarded by the residents of Chinatown (District 5). We’ll drive past Ornamental Fish Street and Medicine Street, and cross the bridge connecting Districts 5 and 8 to witness the contrasting views of stilt houses along the riverside and high-rise buildings.
We’ll continue our bike tour to explore an area once known as the poorest district in Saigon, now referred to as the second Singapore. We’ll then head to a local riverside coffee shop to enjoy a Vietnamese lunch in a cool atmosphere.
After lunch, we’ll visit the floating market to enjoy fresh coconut and chat with locals who live on boats year-round. This market is a docking point for many boats from the Mekong Delta selling their products.
On the way back to your hotel, our licensed driver will take you through eating alleys on a unique island surrounded by the Saigon River, a place where immigrants from all over Vietnam have settled.
The tour concludes with our English-speaking drivers bidding you farewell.
