Highlights

Meet your guide outside Parliament House near Salamanca Place on the waterfront, and then set off on your 2-hour walking tour to explore historic Battery Point.
Soak up the elegance, beauty and history of this quiet and exclusive area that was once farmland known as Cottage Green. This tour includes Arthur Circus and is full of stories including dubious property dealings by Governor Arthur, the fall of the carousing Reverend Knopwood and the ship building tycoon Alexander MacGregor whose finest of grand Georgian homes still stands today.

Battery Point is best appreciated at a leisurely pace on foot with a guide who can bring to life how wealth flowed into Battery Point from the influx of trade and the British Royal Navy shipping timber, wool and rum from the Salamanca docks and warehouses.

This easy walking tour starts at Parliament House and ends in Salamanca Place -
world famous for its Saturday markets, the oldest markets in Australia. Your guide will be happy to direct you to some of our favourite cafés for a reviving coffee after the tour.

Back in the day - I love Battery Point and it's old beautiful homes which take you back to days long gone.Delightful historic homes which are lovenly looked after with roses a plenty in the mostly tiny gardens. Some of the bigger homes have the most amazing views .

Lovely historical tour - Writing this review having just attended the tour on 14 Feb. Lisa was a stellar guide - warm, energetic and very knowledgeable. Appreciate how she was able to answer the many questions we had and was flexible with our needs. We gained a much deeper appreciation for Hobart after attending the tour. Many thanks again to Lisa for showing us around the area!

Battery Point Unveiled. - We were recommended to take a walking tour with Lisa from Hobart Walking Tours. Lisa was outstanding!! We loved the accompanying photo folder. This tour was one of the best historic tours I have ever been on. We were fortunate to be the only couple. It was informative and engaging. We would recommend this tour to anyone, both tourists and residents of Tasmania.

Excellent Walk Battery Point - We enjoyed walking through Historic Battery Point. The houses were amazing making History come alive. Many had plaques on them giving you history of the house. We had a delicious morning tea at Jackman & McRoss Bakery , including coffee and a wonderful Scallop pie. We visited historic Narryna House (Merchants House). This was beautifully preserved. Spend a few hours walking through Battery Point. Brings Hobart's history to life- Highly recommended.

Take a walk among historic homes - We were pleasantly surprised that our hotel, Lenna (which is really nice!), is located at Battery Point. The neighborhood is very cute, with old houses built around the 1840s all very well cared for. There are cafes, restaurants and shops mixed in among the houses. We felt very safe. Take a walk and enjoy the sights as we did… you’ll be happy you did!

What a Great History Walk - A walk through this area allowed appreciation of wonderful houses that have been beautifully maintained and allowed the ability to see the 1800’s date on each of the entry ways. Whilst some are retained as houses, some are now quaint shops. Hotels and a church on the border of a fabulous park overlooking the Derwent River provides a wonderful backdrop for a delightful stroll. Accessed by Kelly’s Steps in Salamanca Place. A great walk to enjoy on a sunny day.
