Interesting walk among the trees - You can walk among the top of the trees on an elevated walkway - all constructed of steel so very secure. There is a tower accessed by a spiral staircase which is pretty spectacular - that's where the zip-lining starts from. There are informative notices about some of the trees on the walk up to the start of the metal structure. Unfortunately we lost the guide document somewhere on the walk up so we can't comment on its contents!

The views from the tower are a bonus - This is a similar experience to two sites in Australia namely the Giant Trees in WA and the Otway Fly on the great Ocean Road in Victoria. The structure takes advantage of topography to allow appreciation of the size of the trees. Where it differs from the Australian sites is that the spiral tower offers external views. On one side there are the Southern Alps and on the other there is Lake Mahinapua. There is also a zip line but I did not sample it. Well worth visiting.

Give it a go! - Wonderful views and certainly a different perspective. The written guide you are given when buying your ticket was very comprehensive but not too long. I really liked that you could take your time and look straight down or out to the horizon to get fantastic views. I do not 'love' heights but had no issues. The sturdy construction you can see and rails on both sides was very comforting. Would recommend.

On top of the world! - I had to conquer my fear of heights to do this walk! Very exhilarating once I got the hang of it. Great views across the tree tops. Lots of great information all the way round of the trees and birdlife.

West Coast Treetop Walkway - A stunning piece of engineering and some breath taking views available. Really well set up system, with information at all the viewing stops and a level, easily navigable walkway. The climb up the tower is well worth it for the stunning views as is the walk out along the cantilevered section but be warned! It bounces a LOT!

A must do - Spectacular views, easy walk, well priced activity, great onsite cafe for a stop afterwards that had a great selection of food and wonderful staff. Didnt do the zip lining but it looked like such a good safe fun activity

A good way to spend a few hours close to Hokitika - We decided last minute when we arrived in Hokitika that we would do the tree walk and zip line combo. The walk was really interesting and informative and we saw both flora and fauna including a bird in its tree hollow nest. The zip line was good fun and I would have given a better rating but the staff need a lesson in interpersonal skills. One young lady was really okay but the other who let us go from the top may has well have not been there. She gave a dead pane briefing without showing any interest or enthusiasm for such an exciting thing to do.

Great…but scary if you don’t like heights! - It was a lot higher than I thought so I found it a bit scary, but the views were amazing and it did feel quite safe. The leaflet explaining what flora you were seeing was good and there was a nice cafe at the reception area. I didn’t make it up the high tower as that was too much for me but I did enjoy the experience overall and I would do it again! Costs about £17 each and takes about 30-40 minutes to go around. There’s a fairly short uphill walk into the forest to get to the start.
