- Geilo - The bus departs at 12:45 directly in front of the train station in Geilo, with a sign on the windshield reading “Jaunt Norway.” The driver will aim to park right in front of the station, but if that spot is occupied, the bus will be a few meters further down in the village. There are public toilets, shops, and restaurants available. The first toilet stop after leaving Geilo is approximately one and a half hours away. You have about 45 minutes in Geilo before the bus leaves, which is perfect for a coffee or a small snack.
- Hardangervidda National Park - Travel comfortably with us across the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. Be amazed by the extraordinary and breathtaking landscape, featuring rugged mountains, deep valleys, and unique flora and fauna. This area is home to Europe’s largest reindeer population. Some of the last snow here doesn’t melt until August. After just a few minutes of driving, the landscape changes dramatically. The tree line in this northern region is around 900 meters, while Hardangervidda’s highest point is about 1500 meters above sea level. If time and weather allow, we will make one or two photo stops along the way.
- Vøringfossen - The Vøringfossen waterfall is a stunning natural wonder that should be on everyone’s itinerary when traveling between Oslo and Bergen. With a total drop of 182 meters and a major drop of 163 meters, it is one of Norway’s most impressive waterfalls and a significant tourist attraction. As you approach, you’ll hear the thunderous sound of rushing water and see the mist rising from the base. We’ll stop at the parking lot, just a short walk from the viewing platform, where public toilets are available. The nearby Fossli Hotel has a cozy café worth visiting. Outside the summer months, enjoy a cup of coffee by the crackling fireplace. We’ll spend about 30 minutes here, admiring the waterfall and the surrounding landscape. Travel time to the next stop is about one and a half hours.
- Eidfjord Municipality - Continuing our drive into the valley, we reach the charming village of Eidfjord after about 20 minutes. Nestled on the banks of the Eidfjord, this small village offers breathtaking views of the fjord and its surrounding mountains.
- Hardanger Bridge - After driving along the fjord for another 20 minutes, we enter a tunnel and emerge at a traffic circle inside the tunnel where we turn left. A minute later, we find ourselves on the Hardanger Bridge, a 1,380-meter-long engineering marvel that stands 55 meters tall. It was the longest bridge in Norway and the 10th longest in the world when it opened. Crossing the Hardanger Bridge, we enter a tunnel that leads us deep into the rock. After about 500 meters, we arrive at a roundabout ingeniously constructed within the rock. From there, we enter the 7 km long Vallaviktunnel, which takes us back to the other side of the Hardangerfjord. As we continue our drive along the scenic fjord, we’re treated to more awe-inspiring views of the surrounding landscape. Towering cliffs and shimmering waters flank the road, providing a stunning backdrop to our journey.
- Øystese - Øystese is a small and beautiful village located in the municipality of Kvam in Vestland county, Norway. It’s situated along the Hardangerfjord and is known for its stunning natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. There’s a shopping area, a sandy beach, a marina, and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in the area. Unfortunately, we don’t have time for a stop on this tour and will therefore only drive through this lovely place.
- Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall - As we approach the Steinsdalsfossen waterfall near Norheimsund, the sound of rushing water fills your ears. The towering falls were formed centuries ago when the river changed course, and its majestic 50-meter height makes it one of the most impressive waterfalls in Norway. A winding path leads you behind the waterfall, where you can marvel at the cascading water from the safety of the rock face. This unique and picturesque spot is a must-see for any traveler, and you’ll have ample time to explore its wonders. For added convenience, there are public toilets and a tourist information center on-site. When you need a break, the cozy café offers a warm cup of coffee and a selection of souvenirs. The old stone arch bridge is a delightful sight that adds to the area’s character. We stay here for 25 minutes, and travel time to Bergen is about one and a half hours.
- Bergen - After exploring the waterfall, it’s time to continue our journey to Bergen. The remaining 1.5 hours of our trip will take us through more beautiful scenery, and we’ll arrive in the heart of the city in no time. If you’re staying at a hotel in the city center, our bus will drop you off right at the door, ensuring a seamless and convenient arrival. If not, we’ll get you as close as possible to your final destination.
