- Holy Island - Lindisfarne, also referred to as Holy Island, is a distinctive island linked to the mainland by a causeway. This path leads to the charming village of Lindisfarne, offering breathtaking views of the Priory that shares its name. Although the Priory is closed during the winter months, visitors can still enjoy the stunning gardens. The island is also home to monks who produce the renowned Lindisfarne ‘Mead’. While visiting, take the opportunity to soak in the peace and tranquility for which the island is famous. If visiting Holy Island is not possible due to tidal conditions, the tour will instead explore the picturesque seaside village of St Abbs, named after a Northumberland Princess who was shipwrecked in the area. The village and its beautiful rugged coastline and bays may be familiar from the movie Avengers: Endgame, as it served as the filming location for New Asgard.
- Alnwick - The journey continues down England’s northeast coast to the lively market town of Alnwick, home to the splendid Alnwick Garden (optional extra). Visitors can choose to explore the Garden, featuring the impressive Grand Cascade and Poison Gardens, or wander through the town’s delightful streets. While in Alnwick, one might also catch a glimpse of Alnwick Castle, known for its appearances in Downton Abbey and the Harry Potter film series.
- Bamburgh Castle - The tour then heads back north to the remarkable medieval Bamburgh Castle (optional extra), which dates back to the 5th century. Spanning nine acres, it is one of the largest inhabited castles in the United Kingdom. With a history that encompasses centuries, various societies, numerous rulers, and many battles, the formidable fortress remains standing today. Visitors can spend time at the castle to discover its vibrant history, as well as the many myths, legends, and ghostly tales associated with it. The castle is also recognizable from its appearances in film and television, including the latest Indiana Jones movie, The Dial of Destiny.
