Into the Heart of the Everglades

As a marine biologist, my work often takes me to the most stunning aquatic environments around the globe. Yet, the Everglades had always been a place I yearned to explore more deeply. When I stumbled upon the Everglades Kayaking Adventure, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to immerse myself in this unique ecosystem.

The day began with a gathering at Key Largo, where our small group met our guide, Garl. His enthusiasm for the Everglades was infectious, and as we followed him into the park, I felt a sense of anticipation building. Though the elusive flamingos remained hidden, the abundance of wildlife more than compensated. A crocodile, several sharks, and a playful tarpon that seemed intent on splashing each of us added an element of excitement to the serene setting.

As darkness enveloped the Everglades, we returned to the marina, our hearts full of the day’s experiences. The Everglades had revealed its secrets to us, and I felt a profound connection to this extraordinary place.
