Great adventure into the mountains! - We had such a lovely time in Sapa - our guide, Chang, was delightful, really friendly and knowledgeable about the area and its peoples. We had some beautiful walks through rice fields, bamboo forests, and through the local towns. The accommodation was great fun with lots of delicious food and lots of rice wine! We loved our trip

Trekking through Sapa - What was meant to be a four-day hike through the mountains of Sapa got cut short after I caught a bug/food poisoning. I ended up stopping in one of the villages to recover, and that’s alright—just part of the travel experience. My guide, Khu, was incredibly kind, checking in on me every day, and honestly, the whole village looked after me every time I managed to drag myself out of my bungalow. Once I had the strength, I explored the village, met some of the locals, and picked up some beautiful handmade pieces for friends and family. The dedication to colour and textiles is something else. Khu and I swapped stories about family, heritage, and cultural identity, and we were both blown away when I showed her traditional Assyrian clothing—so similar to traditional Vietnamese outfits. Who would’ve thought? Even though this trip didn’t go as planned, I was rewarded with something else entirely. something something...Looking at it from a glass-half-full perspective…

Lovely treks - We had a group of 7 of us. The bus that picked people up from Hanoi to Sapa was 2 hours late. I messaged the agent the day before to confirm the pick up time and location. The morning of the pick up the bus didn’t show up at my hostel, I messaged the agent and she only told me then I had to go to another location to get on the bus. No indication of when it will arrive at any point, everyone just stood around waiting. The trek was good, though I wish it would be longer. First and second day we did around 7km (~3 hours). I was the only person that booked a 3D2N trek, so everyone in the group left after the trek on the second day. I would prefer if they told before the trip that I would be the only person left on the 3rd day. While everyone has left, I have the rest of the day free to myself. As people are celebrating the New Year not a lot was opened, so there isn’t loads to do. 3rd day it was a much shorter trek, around 5km (~2hours). The guide took me to a quieter route, quite different to the first two days. Over all I love the treks, just wish it is longer and we could explore other villages that are further away. 10/10 for our guide Chang, she is so lovely and was always happy to answer all our questions.
