Highlights

Ha Giang - Quan Ba - Du Gia Village (120km)

Quan Ba Heaven Gate - After breakfast, we start driving to 4C highway “Road of happiness” and take photo at “Km0”, then we get out of the city and head to the North. We climb up the Quan Ba mountain pass and enter the Dong Van Geopark then reach the Heaven’s Gate and pass the Fairy Hills. In or around the small town of Tam Son we find our lunch. There after we venture deep into Ha Giang mountains and reach the picturesque village of Du Gia. Here we will stay with an ethnic minority family at their homestay. We will have dinner and breakfast with the family. (Today includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Tam Son - In or around the small town of Tam Son we find our lunch.

Du Gia - Du Gia is an unknown quiet village in Ha Giang. This place is visited almost exclusively by travelers who do the Ha Giang loop in 4 days or more. The best thing about this place is the peaceful and unspoiled beauty with its majestic natural landscape of mountains and rice paddies around it. In addition, the local people here are exceptionally hospitable and friendly.

Du Gia - Meo Vac - Nho Que river - Ma Pi Leng homestay (150km)

Nho Que River - We say thanks to the family of the homestay and head to the north, passing some of the most magnificent mountain passes you will ever have seen, into the town of Meo Vac (where we take lunch). Then you will take a boat trip on Nho Que river that passes through Tu San Abyss Alley and runs along Ma Pi Leng mountains. Lastly, you will move up the majestic Ma Pi Leng mountain pass and check in our homestay. Free time to relax or walking around Old Hmong village to know more about local people’s life. Dinner and overnight at homestay. (Today includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Ma Pi Leng Pass - The Ma Pi Leng pass is the most impressive mountain pass in Vietnam at an altitude of 1,500 meters. It is located between Dong Van and Meo Vac, two cities in the far north of Vietnam in Ha Giang province, close to the border with China. It is the most amazing mountain road in all of Vietnam. It lies along the asphalted national road 4C with the nickname “The Happiness Road”. The road was built in the 60s by a lot of workers, mainly ethnic minorities from the area. It took 11 years to finish the whole road. It is known as the King of Vietnamese mountain passes. There are cliffs and abysses almost everywhere along the route and enough hairpin bends to get dizzy. The road along the mountainside has a romantic, breathtaking landscape that is ideal for motorcycling. The road to the top, considered “the Great Wall of Vietnam”, feels like a scene from a fairy tale.

Ma Pi Leng - Dong Van - Lung Cu - Sa Phin - Yen Minh - Nam Dam Village (120km)

Dong Van - If we are waking up on a Sunday in Dong Van the weekly big local market meets you before or after a breakfast. More ethnic minority groups than you can count have travelled on Saturday or extremely early on Sunday to reach here. Really colorful and people from near and far to do their weekly shopping and gossiping. Thereafter, we go to the North Pole. Anyway, that is what the most northern point of Vietnam is jokingly called – Lung Cu. We can climb the Lung Cu Flagpole and view China from the top, then we turn to the south and when we reach Sa Phin to visit the one-hundred-year-old palace of Vuong Chinh Duc – the King of H’mong people. We go down the Highland of Stone and reach Yen Minh where we take lunch and then climb a mountain pass covered in pine forest and sweeping rice terraces along our drive. Down to the Song La valley until the road takes us towards the village of Nam Dam where we check in with a lovely Dao ethnic minority family in their home and enjoy dinner and breakfast

Lung Cu Flag Tower - The Lung Cu flag tower is a 33 meter high tower with a 54 square meter flag on the most northern point of Vietnam in the province of Ha Giang.

Yen Minh - A small town in northern Vietnam, Yen Minh often forms part of the trails followed by the many tourists who travel around the north east of the country.

Nam Dam - Lung Khuy cave - Tam Son - Ha Giang (70km)

Lung Khuy Cave - We enjoy village life after breakfast, walk around the village and might go up to the local waterfall. Then we go and explore the Lung Khuy cave. We take lunch in Tam Son after which we will explore a stunningly beautiful side-loop that connect us back to Road of Happiness and back to our base in Ha Giang city, where we will get on the bus back to Hanoi. Tour ends. (Today includes Breakfast, Lunch).

Tam Son - The town of Tam Son is the capital of Quan Ba, and is often the first stop travelers make in the district. The town, like most others in the province, is surrounded by karst mountains, two of which are known as the “Twin Mountains” and are closely tied to a local legend that we won’t spoil for you here, as hearing it for the first time as you watch the valley from atop the peak is a key part of the experience.

4-day trip to North Vietnam - I did the 4D3N tour with an easy-rider and what a ride! Northern Vietnam is full of amazing mountains, the view was breathtaking the full time. We've seen all kind of roads in different conditions but rided through without hassle. My rider and leader of the group Ly let me felt safe on the road and never endangered. His English was also good and gave info about some of the places we stopped by. All the riders were amazing and took photos of us and whith us. I personally felt confy on the back of ke without pain in the legs at the end of the day (I'm 1m61 for reference). The day was usually filled with a visit of a place at some point during the and breaks (10/15mn)were done every 45mn to spots with a views and a small shop for drinks or going to the toilet. It gave us enough time to relax and take photos. All the people were friendly and were partying with us in the evening! Drinks, karaoké or even a pool table were available depending on the city we were in. The places we stayed for the night were clean (opted for a private room for +10$). We also had the chance to learn more about local communities and discover how they're living. I was part of a team of 10 people (9 with an easy-rider, 1 riding himself) so it was cool and quiet on the road, not like other tour companies which I wanted to avoid. The food served was good as well, despite feeling repetitive at the end of the loop, and we got a large bottle of water at the start of each day. Pictures are beautiful but you have to be there to really understand! A must-do if you go to Vietnam!

10/10 Ha Giang Loop - Wow what a tour. I do not normally leave feedback, but felt compelled to. I opted for the 4 day tour and 3 nights sleep. I did this solo with and easy rider and have zero regrets. You have quieter roads, less waiting for other people and a more flexible schedule. The accommodation on this trip was class! One bathroom had a heated mirror, I even had a hairdryer with a built in light! The important stuff: My experience with my EasyRider [Tung / Tom] on the Ha Giang Loop was absolutely incredible. From the moment we set off, I felt completely safe and comfortable, thanks to the expert handling of my rider. Tom / Tung navigated the winding mountain roads with such ease and confidence, allowing me to fully enjoy the breathtaking scenery without any worry. The entire journey was not only safe but also a lot of fun! Riding through the stunning landscapes, exploring hidden villages, and stopping at local spots made the adventure truly unforgettable. It was the perfect balance of excitement and peace. I got very lucky with the weather… I got to know my easy rider quite well. His English is good so we could communicate with ease. We shared some laughs, some rice wine [not much as the drivers get breathalysed] and we also had some deep chat about life and all things Vietnam. If you have the pleasure of pairing up with Tom / Tung. Challenge him to a game of billiard or get him hiking 🤓 I did a lot of research into the loop… and this company is very reliable. “A ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” Go get a nightbus… Go do the Ha Giang loop Go make some memories. Ha Giang… what a place 🏍️ ⛰️ 😍

The best tour with Học and Dai! - I went on this tour with my friend and our riders were Học and Dai. They were absolutely amazing!! I felt safe the whole time, and I’ve not been on a bike before. The rides would take photos and videos of us and made a love slide show for us! It was also my friends birthday and last minute Học and Dai ordered a cake which was a very good price and we celebrated at the homestay, they put so much thought into the celebration and fresh cake. The riders made us feel so comfortable and we were extremely lucky to have them as they made this trip so amazing! The loop and the places and views we saw are amazing! We get enough time to relax there and take photos. The food is also amazing! I would 100% recommend this tour, especially with Dai and Học as riders. I would do this again, thank you so much for the best time! 🤩

They made us feel really safe and they are very experienced riders. They took many photos of us and we had the most incredible 4 days with them. The company is lucky to have 2 amazing friendly drivers. Thanks again!

Amazing cultural experience with safe and friendly guides - I had a really amazing experience with Ha Giang Backpackers Tour! My guide/driver was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and made time to party with us in the evening. I was also never concerned for my safety as my driver had 12 years of experience and was very cautious on the more difficult sections. The homestay’s were great as well. The first night was more touristy with a pool and other groups to party with while the next nights were in a small village with a local hmong family who provided a great cultural experience which I really enjoyed! I highly recommend doing the loop with this tour group as you get a much better cultural experience than you get with the bigger tour groups.

Great experience, room for improvement in the tour - The scenery was great! We were 6 people as 5 easy rider and 1 motorbiker. + Guides (drivers) are super friendly and fun. Even though their English was not great, they tried to communicate with us and showed some local way of drinking :) + No words for the scenery! Unbelievably good. + Really good vegetarian food! We liked having many options and vegetables. +/- would be nice to have some background information about the places that we passed. Drivers were there only for driving basically :) +/- If you want to drive by yourself, you basically either get semi-automatic one (which is definitely not suitable for the roads) or you pay extra 40 euros for off-road motorbike. Since you considered as you rent a motorbike, you have to pay for the gas. +/- we got water only one time in whole 3 days. - No protection except helmet!!! The company really need to consider providing protection!! When it rains, roads become slippery and dangerous. - Cleanliness is questionable. Would be great to have at least some soap in the bathroom :) - Only one night stay in a homestay. It would be great to experience more homestays. Though, the hotels we stayed was not worst (except cleanliness)
