Cao Bang 3 day tour - Had a 3 day tour of the Cao Bang Surrounds around Ban Gioc Waterfall, Ba Be Lake, Chinese border - was very good and amazing scenery in a nice comfortable bus. Days felt long with long bus travel during days, but was worth it for the scenery. Giang guiding us was great.

You cover a lot of... - You cover a lot of country, the farm stay was so great-to wake up surrounded by rice Feilds, the real experience with lovely accommodation and so much food, then onto the jungle stay again really lovely accommodation- it’s just a bit rushed. An extra night would be ideal

Great - Ban Gioc waterfall is very beautiful and the nature along the way to the fall and later Babe lake (incl the national park) were amazing. It is a lot of time on the bus though as you have a lot of (very pretty) ground to cover! Thank you John & the driver for taking good care of us for 3 days!

Amazing - Paying the extra money for a tour is 100% worth it in my eyes. We had only been in Vietnam 3 days before going on our tour and it makes a huge difference on how you see everything around you. It helps you ease into the culture very easily. Our tour guide, Eddie, spoke very good English and was a very kind man. He was very knowledgeable on everything we went to see and went past. The places we stayed were also luxurious and very clean. The first night was in a little village in the mountains. We got to see the culture and lifestyle of the families in this village and it was amazing. The views of the places we went to were also incredible. The food we ate was delicious and there was plenty of it too. There is quite a bit of driving but the van was comfortable and the driver was very good and smooth. Could easily take quick naps while on the road. The tour was out of our budget but was 100% worth the money. Staying in lovely places, eating heaps of lovely food, gaining insight into Vietnamese culture and way of life and seeing jaw dropping sights. Suitable for all ages aswell, we are a young couple and had the best time and we were with a middle aged couple who loved it too. Mr Linhs Adventures are a great company and I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

Excellent Ban Gioc falls/ Ba be Lake tour - After competing with the hordes of other tourists at Sapa, Ninh Binh and Ha Long Bay, Cao Bang Province was extremely refreshing. Yes it's a long way by road to get up to the border with China to see the Ban Gioc falls, and another long day on the bus to get back to Hanoi. For me the beauty of the area in general (not only the falls/ cave/ lake that are the highlights), and fewer tourists, made that worthwhile. However what really made the difference was the fantastic organisation of our itinerary by Nginh (I know I've spelt that incorrectly). He changed our accommodation on night 1, as he could see we were an older group and would be grateful for some creature comforts. This also meant that we were closer to the falls the next morning, so had a more leisurely morning than we otherwise would have had. We were the first and only people in the Nguom Ngao cave the next morning, and there were very few other tourists at Ban Gioc falls when we arrived. By the time we left the crowds were growing. THIS is good planning, and I appreciated it. The other thing I appreciated was Nginh's concern that my physical limitations shouldn't prevent me from experiencing everything on offer. He encouraged me to take part when I was concerned I'd be too slow for the group. And often he held my hand to ensure I felt safe on stairs with no handrails. He's very passionate about the region, and often took photos along with us, even though he travels there as often as once a week. And to top the trip off we had Bao driving us. He was excellent. He handled the Hanoi traffic, the long days, and even a dodgy back road that was having roadwork done on it, with skill and good humour.

A great tour to some not yet as popular locations off the beaten track - This was a great tour exactly what we were after. We enjoyed spending time off the beaten track connecting with some of the local people. We went a month after the typhoon and ended up as the only two people on the tour. We enjoyed the sites as they weren't over crowded. Our driver was great as was the tour guide. Although our tour guide was young, he was still very engaging just lacked some of the deeper knowledge around culture/history.

Trip to north vietnam - The Tour over the three days was absolut amazing. Our Guide Lim was so nice and accompanied us to the different places of north Vietnam. Our driver Long drove us safe and sound everywhere. Even with the difficulties of the taifun we could enjoy the trip. As a vegetarian could try out many different dishes which were very nice. Only thing to note is that the drives in between take a long time. But we stopped regulary to get some cofee. All in all: 10/10

Driving driving driving - Day 1 we were last to be picked up and had to sit at the end of the row which was very uncomfortable. The next two days we basically raced to get a better seat so we wouldn’t have to do that again. The first day had the most driving too… the lunch was pretty bizarre. Làm helped me to a pharmacy to grab some medicine which was really nice cuz I didn’t even ask. Hoemstay is not for the faint of heart, but one can adapt. There’s a shared restroom and dinner is family style like lunch. Family is welcoming. Day 2 the big day… the waterfall was overflowing and that meant we couldn’t do the boat raft womp womp… all that driving … but hey we got in some good shots after slipping through some deep slippery mud. Ba be lake was nice, some trash kind of like ha long Bay Area. Jungle houses are way nicer. We loved our room! Not too much water pressure but did the job. Meals were an upgrade for sure we loved it all. Staff was friendly too. Oh and the pool was a nice reward after another day of driving. Day 3 another day of driving but before that we did a 3km hike which we loved because we had the guide to ourselves and we had some awesome convos with Lắm (sp?) he is the best guide we’ve ever had compared to any other tours we’ve ever been on. He’s so sweet, funny, helpful, patient open and informative. Shout out to lắm for baby sitting all of us . He really made the trip better. Such a kind soul. And shout out to our poor driver sadly dont remember his name but apparently he was friends with Mr linh since high school. Feel bad for him driving on those crazy roads for all those long hours!

No refund after safe concerns after typoon. - I had contacted Mr Linh’s Adventures got a quick response and planed private trip to Ba Be -Ban Gioc for 4 days/ 3 nights, for 20th September. Paid my deposit of 30% late June. Was really looking forward to our trip, but then typhoon Yagi hit North Vietnam on 7th September, once I had heard about the typhoon 10th September , I contacted the tour operator asking the impact the typhoon had on the area we be going to, and wanted to make sure the trip would be safe. His reply was since your trip the 20th September it will be fine and I will update you. 13th September, I get a text saying the is over in Ba Be and has almost receded and SHOULD be back to normal in 3 days. After do a bit of research myself, and having friends reach out to colleagues they knew in VIetnam, I just didn’t feel this trip would be safe to take, specially as I would have someone else child with me. I emailed the company to cancel the trip stating my concerns about roads, bridges and landslides. After a few text it was pointed out to me that I was cancelling 5 days out from my trip and I would lose my deposit plus they wanted another 25% which I wasn’t going to pay and made that very clear. At no stage did the tour operator point out to me, when I first inquired about the typhoon that I lose my deposit and if I waited 7 days out they want another 25% and if I waited like he had asked until the Tuesday before the trip to cancel I would have been asked to pay the full amount for the trip I was planning on cancelling. After speaking to other people who had trips planned for Halong Bay and Northern parts of Vietnam (clearly with other companies ) who cancelled their trip just after I cancelled mine, were refunded their full deposit. As, I was cancelling for safe reasons and just not a change of mind, I feel the company should have refunded my deposit, specially since they were not give me basically no information of what areas were hit by the typhoon and where the damaged had occurred.
