Ha Giang is best explored on a road trip, ideally on two wheels, to fully appreciate the majestic scenery and the atmosphere of the remote towns and minority villages.
HA GIANG CITY - QUAN BA - YEN MINH - PHO CAO – SUNG LA - DONG VAN TOWN
Ha Giang Province - -8:30 AM - Enjoy breakfast before starting the Ha Giang loop journey.
- Check-in: KM 0 Milestone - Bac Sum Slope - Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Stop to view the entire Doi Mountain, Tam Son Town.
- 12:30 PM After crossing Can Ty pass, visit some beautiful spots, including lonely trees and Van Chai cliff, then have lunch at Yen Minh town.
- 1:30 PM Continue towards Dong Van to visit: Tham Ma pass, Pho Cao village, Sung La valley, Lung Cam cultural village rich in H’Mong ethnic identity, “Pao’s house”, Tam Giac Mach field, and Moon rock field in Sa Phin village.
- 4:30 PM: Visit the Vuong family mansion (King of the Hmong people).
- 6:00 PM: Check into a hotel or homestay and rest.
- 7:30 PM: Dinner, followed by free time to explore Dong Van Old Town and enjoy street food at the night market.
Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Quan Ba Heaven Gate is a unique attraction in Ha Giang, situated at an elevation of 1500m above sea level. It serves as the main gateway to the majestic rock plateau of Ha Giang.
Lung Cam Cultural - Tourism Village - Nestled in the narrow, picturesque Sung La Valley is the village of Lung Cam. Recognized as a ‘cultural tourist village’ by local authorities, the highlight here, aside from the stunning setting, is a century-old traditional Hmong house. This adobe structure, surrounding a stone-paved courtyard, was once an opium emporium and more recently featured in a Vietnamese film.
Lung Cam is located 25km west of Dong Van. If you don’t have your own transportation, you can catch any of the buses connecting Dong Van and Tam Son.
Dinh Vua Meo - The Vuong Family’s Palace is one of the few sites in Ha Giang where travelers can admire magnificent architecture and historical significance. The mansion is about 14km from Dong Van town, in Sa Phin Commune.
As the residence of the one hailed as the ‘King of H’mong people’, the palace is surrounded by two walls built from carved stones. The outer wall is 60cm thick and 2m high, while the inner wall is even thicker and more robust. Between these walls, a row of oleanders is planted on the 50m-wide land.
DONG VAN TOWN – MA PI LENG PASS – NHO QUE RIVER – MAU DUE – DU GIA
Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark - -8:30 AM: After breakfast, visit the legendary Happiness Road, the majestic Ma Pi Leng Pass, and the beautiful Nho Que River.
- Check-in: Stop at the Ma Pi Leng monument, the challenging road to Death’s snout, and Dinosaur’s spine walking on the sky part, where you can see the entire scene at the foot of the pass. Enjoy panoramic views and several beautiful check-in points at the top of the pass.
- Take a boat on the Nho Que River to see the highest Tu San canyon in Southeast Asia, a natural masterpiece unique to Ha Giang.
- 12:30 PM: Have lunch at Meo Vac Town. Then continue the journey from Meo Vac town to Du Gia, enjoying beautiful views with many winding roads and endless valleys. On the way, check-in at M pass shooting location, Mau Due, Lung Ho.
- 5:00 PM: Arrive at Du Gia commune center, check in at a local homestay in Du Gia village, enjoy dinner with Tay cuisine, and drink corn wine, affectionately called “happy water.”
Ma Pi Leng Pass - Visiting Ma Pi Leng Pass offers travelers the chance to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the region while experiencing the rich cultural heritage of the local ethnic communities. The journey along the pass is an adventure, with numerous opportunities for hiking and motorbiking.
Nho Que River - The Nho Que River in Ha Giang is a must-visit for travelers seeking an unforgettable experience in the misty wonders of Northeast Vietnam. For those looking to capture breathtaking photos during their trip to Ha Giang, a stop at the Nho Que River is essential.
Meo Vac - For those traveling from Dong Van, the highlight of the trip to Meo Vac is likely to occur as soon as you cross into the district, particularly the awe-inspiring Ma Pi Leng Pass.
The road through the pass is carved directly into the mountain side, and as you ascend to the 2000-meter high peak, you will witness some of the most spectacular panoramic views Vietnam has to offer.
Du Gia - While there may not be much to do in Du Gia, the journey to this location is the true highlight. Visitors can walk through the village, observe locals working in the rice fields, and see traditional houses built on stilts. Every Saturday morning, this small town hosts a market where the region’s colorful inhabitants gather.
DU GIA – DUONG THUONG village LUNG TAM – QUAN BA – HA GIANG city HN
Du Gia - -8:30 AM: After breakfast, take a walk around the village, enjoy a swim in Du Gia waterfall, and then depart back to Ha Giang city.
- On the way, stop to admire and visit some beautiful scenes: the valley Duong Thuong, and Lung Tam weaving village.
- Have lunch at Tam Son town - Quan Ba and return to Ha Giang city around 5:00 PM, where you can shower and rest at a hostel or homestay.
Thâm Luông Waterfall - Visit the Du Gia Waterfall: 5 kilometers from town, there’s a small waterfall with lovely pools for swimming. The road is rough but worth it, as the scenery along the short walk to the pools is stunning.
Lung Tam village - Lung Tam is renowned as a traditional craft village for brocade weaving by the Hmong on the Dong Van plateau, Ha Giang province. Besides brocade products favored by both domestic and international visitors, the unique weaving process in Lung Tam village is an attraction for visitors in Quan Ba district.
Hanoi - The comfortable bus will transfer guests back to Hanoi in the evening.
