We’ll then head towards Ha Giang, stopping 15km west of Dong Van to visit the Vuong Palace, built by the Mong people for their king. We will arrive in Dong Van by 5pm, where you’ll stay in a hotel and have dinner. Dong Van is a peaceful village, perfect for a leisurely stroll.
Dong Van - Ma Pi Leng Pass - Meo Vac - Du Gia (B/L/D)
Ha Giang Wanderlust - Today, we will drive through the Dong Van Geopark, offering even more stunning views. The Ma Pi Leng Pass, known as the “king” of Vietnam’s passes, is a highlight. At the top of this pass begins the 20km long Happiness Road, handcrafted by locals and exuding a romantic atmosphere. In Meo Vac, you’ll witness some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes, including Mau Due and Du Gia, with their terraced rice fields. Upon arriving in Du Gia, we’ll have lunch with a Tay minority family and, if time permits, swim in the pristine waterfalls of Du Gia Village. We’ll stay overnight in a homestay.
Du Gia - Du Gia Waterfall - Bac Me - Ha Giang (B/L)
Ha Giang Wanderlust - After breakfast, we’ll bid farewell to our lovely homestay family and drive to the waterfall (if we didn’t have time to visit it on day 2). We’ll continue to enjoy the incredible valley views and immerse ourselves in the local culture. Lunch will be on the way back to Ha Giang. We expect to return to Ha Giang by 4 or 5 pm, where you can freshen up at a homestay. On the last day of our trip, you can choose to stay another night in Ha Giang or take a sleeping bus to Hanoi, which we can arrange for you.

The inhabitants of this rugged region are primarily made up of ethnic minorities, with the Hmong, Tày, Yao, and Nùng ethnic groups being the most numerous. The rich diversity of these ethnicities makes Ha Giang a melting pot of traditions. Each group manifests their unique heritage through their own special customs and rituals pertaining to weddings, worship, festivals, and funerals. For instance, it’s a tradition among the Hmong community that the groom must successfully carry out a mock bridal abduction without anyone knowing to successfully complete a marital rite.
- The most famous rocky area of Ha Giang is Dong Van Rock Plateau, which is recognized by UNESCO as one of 77 geological parks in the world. Lung Cu hamlet lying inside Dong Van Rock Plateau is another indispensible destination as it marks the very northern tip of Vietnam by Lung Cu Flag Tower on Dragon Mountain.
