Visit Halong Bay with Le Theatre - Had a great time on the cruise. The room was nice, the activities were fun and the food was good. Ha Long Bay was stunning. The staff on board were very good. Special mention to Tom. Very professional and approachable, and communicated very well. He kept things running smoothly. There was a lot to be across and he was seemingly everywhere! And Anna, who was so friendly and attentive! She was on top of my partner's shellfish allergy. And even spotted when a dish was too spicy for us and offered to get us an alternative dish.

Go go go! - This is a must do no matter who you are. However you see the bay - overnight cruise, day trip - make sure to make time for it. It is a 2.5 hour drive from Hanoi but 100% worth it. There are areas that are polluted with too much trash and the number of boats in the area is a bit insane, but seeing this natural wonder of the world makes up for it. The weather may be hit or miss but the mist somewhat adds to the mystique.

A definite tick on your travel list - We did the 2 night, 3 day cruise. Peter, Jack and Sam were great hosts. Highly organised cruise with tours and kayaking on offer if you wish to partake. Weather was lovely and Halong Bay is a must see on the travel list. Quite spectacular. Water was pristine. Boat is clean and relatively new. Great cabins with balconies.

Great location and great Cruise. - We did a one night stay on Le Theatre Cruise and it was just fantastic. The location is very picturesque and the cruise was so enjoyable. The rooms were great and your own little balcony allows you to sit and just enjoy the view with your special someone. They do their best to do some activities with you, if you choose to take part. Happy hour, squid fishing, kayaking, swimming and a tour of the bright cave(dark was closed). It was so enjoyable. I can highly recommend it.

Amazing Cruise!!!! - I had an amazing time! The tour guide, Trung, was phenomenal!!! His English is amazing and he was very knowledgeable about the history of the places we went to and was super excited by the trip. As a solo backpacker we kayaked together and he taught me the most I was able to learn the most about Hanoi and Halong Bay and was just nice company!!!! Would definitely recommend this cruise and Trung!

Clean ship, beautiful views - The Le Theatre 2 day/1 night cruise was arranged by my travel agent. It is a new boat compared to the other ones that are around, started only in early 2019, so it is still very clean and pristine. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathroom is well designed. The cruise was relaxing and the scenery is amazing. We had activities such as learning how to make spring rolls, which I still remember and use at home today. A couple of negative notes: the food was plentiful but not very good. Also, considering the cost of the cruise you'd think that coffee or tea would be provided, or at least kettles in the room (like I had in my hotels all across Vietnam), but we were charged for it, which I thought was stingy. Also, the prices for beverages was very high - US$8 for a glass of wine, which I had to return because it came from a stale, pre-opened bottle. So a few mis-steps in service but the overall experience was very good.

Interesting experience, dirt everywhere - I agree with all opinions. Halong Bay is amazing and something unique that you will see. However, from the first moment we feel disappointed with the large amount of garbage that accumulates and the worst of all is that you mention it to the crew and (with their poor English) they tell you that the government prohibits them from throwing garbage and then you see them They themselves are the ones who make the mess. The cruise is fine, one more experience, but everything is very prepared and done for the tourist, it is not really authentic, since everything is down to the millimeter. The over-exploitation of the place can be seen, even in Halong City, where we saw the large number of houses that have been built and in which no one lives. I recommend it, yes, but don't have your expectations too high, because despite the wonder of the landscape, you feel very disappointed when you see that the place is not cared for.

Disappointed - The starting off meeting point room was quite basic and didn't give a great 1st impression. We booked the suite and it was spacious and very comfortable. The large balcony allowed for great sight-seeing. The bed was fabulous. We celebrated an anniversary and the staff really went overboard (pardon the pun) to make it special . Our bed was decorated with flowers, there was a very delicious cake and they set up a private dining table on the top deck for us. I would strongly advise you to do the two night cruise. The "one night" guests commented on how rushed they felt and that they had missed out on activities experienced on the 2-night option. Tom was great and manages the "big boat" very well. Lucky looked after us at meal times and did a superb job. He made it his top priority to ensure we had everything we needed. I agree with other reviews in that some maintenance is required. The carpet tiles are lifting all along the corridor (serious trip hazard) and the stair carpets could do with replacing. The tours were great. Peter was excellent and we had a terrific day out with him visiting the islands. He is very passionate about his country and this was great to witness. We opted for the bike ride and despite not haven been on a bike for over 30 years, we managed the experience without falling off! The food provided in the restaurant on the island tour was not great at all and all 7 in our group left most of it. It was cold and with all the flies we had concerns about upset tummies. I must point out our tummies were fine! The "light breakfast" on the boat was a disappointment and not great value considering what we paid for the two nights. Compared to the evening meals, very little thought and effort was put into this service, We have very mixed feelings about the food on the boat. When we arrived, we had lunch straight away. It was very seafood orientated so if you are not keen, make sure you let them know when you book. We felt overwhelmed by the volume of food provided. Platter after platter kept arriving at very frequent intervals so by the time we got to the final dish, it was cold. We felt very rushed, not really given enough time to savour each course. Each course was seafood. The following night, guessing we were in for the same meal experience, we asked for fewer courses to be served and to be fair they took this on board. The food was cooked and presented very well but a little thought with regards to volume and pacing of the courses is required. Most guests we spoke to had the same feelings on this. On our last day, after the fantastic cave visit we had a buffet lunch. This was by far the best meal we had. We could choose what we wanted as well as how much to put on our plate. There was a strange arrangement at Happy Hour - buy 2 drinks, get one free. Most parties were couples so this was not an ideal option. One thing that did surprise me was how little the boat moved. To call it a cruise is a bit of a stretch. I understand its a UNESCO site and there are strict rules as to what and where the boats can do/go but really, it barely moved position until the last day when we were returning back to base. We had expected the boat to sail around the islands but this is not the case and so any sightseeing was largely from the tender. I feel as though I have criticised a lot. We did enjoy our experience but let down by the food and also felt it was a little over-priced. I'm not sure I would describe it as 5 star in all honesty.
