St. Joseph’s Cathedral is a Catholic church on Nhà Chung Street, in the Hoàn Kiếm District of Hanoi, Vietnam. It is a late 19th-century Gothic Revival church that serves as the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hanoi. The cathedral is named after Joseph, the patron saint of Vietnam.

  • Ta Hien Street - Ta Hien street is also called the Beer street, This street is full of bars and restaurants and hundreds of people sit outside on the street in tiny plastic chairs and tables

  • Dong Xuan Market - Like Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh City or Dam Market in Da Nang, Dong Xuan Market has been a symbol and a pride of Hanoi people for many years.

Nestled in downtown Hanoi, this is the largest wholesale market in the North with an area of 6,500 m2, as well as the gathering place of a multitude of business items to serve the life of the capital’s netizens and supply sources for traders.

  • Long Bien Bridge - Long Biên Bridge is a historic cantilever bridge across the Red River that connects two districts, Hoan Kiem and Long Bien of the city of Hanoi, Vietnam.
  • Train Street - Visiting Hanoi Train Street in Hanoi is one of the Best Things To Do to learn and explore Hanoi local life Rather than being a normal road with car or motorbike traffic, it has actual real railway lines running through it. Homes and businesses literally open out onto the railway lines. For the most part, the locals who live and move through there go about their day as with any other Hanoi street. Motorbikes zoom up and down the side of the railway lines. Local ladies cook delicious smelling foods, crouched over their seasoned cooking pots and surrounded by bundles of herbs and other fresh ingredients. Kids run around, crossing the tracks to each other’s houses. Animals snooze peacefully in the daytime sun.

Family friendly and flexible walking tour - We had Phong (Windy) as our guide for the half day walking tour of Hanoi. We were travelling with children (ages 11 & 13) and I specifically picked this tour as it looked the most family friendly. Windy met us at our hotel and was so accomodating and flexible allowing us to use our free welcome drink at the famous egg coffee place and ensuring we saw the train street and train passing by. He was very knowledgeable sharing descriptive and interesting insights of Hanoi which the whole family thoroughly enjoyed.
