• Thang Long Water Puppet - 7:40 am - 8:00 am: The tour guide and car will pick up guests from their hotels in Hanoi Old Quarter for the journey. (For those not requiring hotel pickup, please proceed to the designated meeting point to join the tour group. Note that this is only a meeting point, not a visit site). The trip to Ninh Binh begins, offering a chance to enjoy the picturesque rural landscapes along the way.
• Hoa Lu Temples of the Dinh & Le Dynasties - 10:30 am: Visit the ancient Hoa Lu Citadel, featuring the King Dinh Temple from the 10th Century. This former capital boasts numerous historical sites for visitors to explore. The attractions include temples dedicated to the Emperors and royal figures who ruled over 1000 years ago. Hoa Lu still preserves remnants of the ancient fortress built by the Dinh dynasty over a millennium ago. The Imperial site, buried 3 meters underground, is now a fascinating place to visit. The tour continues with a 30-minute bike ride through a rural village to experience local life. Please note that this short biking trip is an optional, complimentary activity to enjoy the serene rural landscapes, not a professional biking tour. If cycling is not preferred, guests can opt to walk around the area for photos or relax at the restaurant while others cycle.
• Ninh Binh Mountain Side Homestay & Cafe - 12:30 pm: Enjoy a buffet lunch at the restaurant featuring a variety of local dishes such as goat meat, fried rice, and rice crackers. Vegetarian options are also available.
• Tam Coc - 1:30 pm: Embark on a sampan boat trip rowed by locals, gently gliding along the Ngo Dong River. Experience the stunning scenery of Karst hills, rice fields, and tranquil villages, passing through “Hang Ca”, “Hang Hai”, and “Hang Ba”. This natural masterpiece is often referred to by the Vietnamese as “Halong Bay on land.”
• Mua Caves - 4:00 pm: Arrive at Mua Cave and begin an exhilarating hike to the top of Ngoa Long Mountain to witness the breathtaking rice valley and the beauty of nature. The cave, meaning ‘Cave of Dance’, may not be overly impressive, but the panoramic views from the peak are remarkable. A stone staircase beside the cave entrance zigzags through the karst (watch out for goat droppings) and leads to a simple altar to Quan Am (the Goddess of Mercy) after nearly 500 steps. Look west to see the Ngo Dong River winding through Tam Coc. The climb is paved but steep in parts, so bring water and allow an hour for the round trip. Afterwards, return to the bus for the journey back to Hanoi.
