During the recent ice age, a monumental occurrence happened, leaving an enduring mark on the course of the vast Columbia River. A massive flood stripped the land, resulting in rocky cliffs and cascading water that create the globally recognized “Columbia River Gorge”. Marvel at the grandeur from Vista House perched on 800 foot high sharp rock cliffs, gaze at Multnomah Falls, the country’s second highest year-round waterfall, or observe the nonintermittent spectacle of Latourell Falls. Come fall, you can see salmon in the midst of their spawning in nearby Eagle Creek.
