Highly recommend tour - Great experience we enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the captains story’s of his own life experiences in Alaska. The ship was comfortable and warm. We encountered a few far off whales and some otters on the trip.

Amazing - Seeing the whales is such a beautiful experience. Pictures just don’t do them justice. To see them in person and experience how big they are and how they sound is magical. If you get to see them breach it’s breath taking.

Best whale watching ever - One of the best excursions ever! When we boarded the boat, I asked the guide if there was a good chance that we'd see whales. She guaranteed we would and did not disappoint. There were several boats out looking for whales and the captains of each ship were talking to each other when a whale was sited. Great trip and great commentary by the guide and the captain.

A must Do! - We had an amazing experience on the Hoonah whale watching cruise. The boat was safe and it wasn’t such a large group which was nice because we had a great view of the whales. We saw sooo many whales it was incredible. Our guide Paul is a local and what a great guide he was! His knowledge of the whales and stories of the area really made our trip memorable. Dont hesitate to book with Hoonah travel adventures probably the best thing we did in Alaska.

Humpbacks, orcas, and seals - Hoonah is a small town or village with big docks for cruise ships. The cruise ship docks are called Icy Strait Point, buts it’s part of Hoonah. Capetian Paul and his deck hand were very friendly and explained all the facts about whales we didn’t know, like all the humpbacks don’t go to Hawaii in the winter and they are easy to find because they tend to stay in the same area. When a humpback surfaces and exhales the spout or blow is visible for miles when the visibility is good. When their fluke rises into the air they are starting a dive and will be down 5 to 15 minutes.
We enjoyed the excursion and will do it again.
We saw orcas, humpbacks, porpoises, and seals.

Amazing beyond expected - It was amazing. Not only did we see humpback and orca whales but we saw huge otters and seals. They went far beyond what was expected.

Couldn't have been BETTER!!! Perfect day watching the beautiful whales! - This excursion FAR exceeded our expectations! The boat captain was great and taught us a lot about the area as well as the whales. He was very knowledgeable and made it really interesting. The best part of the day was the whales and they put on a show! He guided our boat in the perfect location and we were literally surrounded by beautiful whales, swimming, spouting and even breaching close by! Will never forget it!

Great experience! Saw lots of whales! - We really enjoyed to guides and the information and stories. We were lucky to have good weather and also got to see orcas. My kids enjoyed the experience.

Whales all day - This is an excellent tour that takes you straight to an area off Hoonah where humpback whales often gather. We saw numerous surfacings over our three hour trip and also some breeches. Boat cabin provides shelter from wind and rain. Tour guide was highly knowledgeable and friendly. This is a chance to experience something authentic and real during a stop at Icy Strait Point.

Tour Guide Was Awesome - Sep 17, 2024. 8 am tour. Sunny day, good for a tour. We saw a bear on the beach, then about 40 min into the tour, we saw plenty of whales. Neat.
