Great guides. Great experience. Comfortable! - Five stars!!! The owner accompanied us on this kayak adventure in this family-owned business. The owner and his employees are all locals and can tell you the history and information about the community. They took and posted pictures of us for free. The provided lots of information and answered all of our questions. They laughed and talked, and I made us feel at home. They provided water and snacks. We got to hold a sea star and a crab. We even saw whales at a distance. We weren’t sure where to go to begin with but getting off the boat. It was easy. Go through door two and walk to the excursion hub. Somebody was waiting there gave us a tag and guided us to our shuttle. The owner was waiting as we got off the shuttle. You don’t even get in the water or water on you. They provide all of the equipment you could possibly need we were warm and comfortable. I highly recommend this company.

Family Fun in Hoonah - Had an amazing time with Fairweather Kayaks. It was just a short walk from the pier to the excursion hub. Detailed directions made for an easy walk to our pick up point. This is an independent family owned company and their hospitality really shone through. We received a great tour from our guides and they were so accommodating to our 12 year old who is not an experience kayaker. We are lifeline Alaskans who have been all over the state. The beauty of Hoonah is really unmatched. If you want to have a day of family fun and see the charming town of Hoonah, select this tour!

Highlight of Our Alaska Vacation! - Words cannot express how grateful we are for the team. This tour was the highlight of our Alaska trip for our teenagers (and we know how dificult it is to please teenagers). We saw so many eagles and crabs. The kayak team was so amazing. We felt like we were kayaking with family!. Highly recommend this tour. Will definitely book this tour again when we decide to go back to Alaska!

Kayak Tour - We had a great time on our kayak tour. It rained the whole time, but it was still beautiful. It was so peaceful and we enjoyed all the views. The guides were very informative, and we learned a lot about Hoonah. Fun group!!! Enjoyed kayaking with my family.

Well worth it - Had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect and the guides were great at letting everyone row at their pace. Hoonah is located in the most breathtaking scenery, was so peaceful to be out in the water, taking it all in. Saw eagles, lots of jumping salmon and crabs. Bear was spotted by the guides but ran off before we got close enough to see it.

Rainy morning kayaking - We had a wet morning kayaking in the ocean in Icy Strait Point. We were a family of 8. We were split into kayaks. We should have taken the water proof gear offered to us. We did not think it would rain the whole time we were out. We had Dave as our guide. Michelle, Cody and Terry were there to assist at any time. Dave was very knowledgeable about the area. We saw lots of bald eagles, deer, sea otters and fish. We even got to hold a crab. They had snacks and Michelle took pictures that she emailed to us (free of charge). We were all soaked and cold by the end. We would recommend on a none rainy day.

More Militant than Airlines Closing the Door 5 minutes prior to takeoff. - Vague directions. You don’t know what dock you land at until you are off the boat. Gondola may be 4 minutes but line for gondola was 10. No signage to Excursion Kayaks at other dock. There are 2 kayak companies so if you just ask directions from an employee they could send you to the wrong one (which they did me). They can call you but there is no cell service so good luck even if you answer. I essentially after asking multiple people: it is literally behind the stores next to the maintenance shed with finally a sign that says “Excursion Tours” even though I booked this as “Fairweather Kayak Tour”. Literally arrived at 1001. 60 seconds late. Total trip took 20 minutes not as described in instructions. The lady tried radioing the guide to swing around and come back- no response. Day wasted. At the very least they gave me my money back but eve. That felt like a favor. Can’t speak to the quality of the tour but leave yourself at least 30 minutes to arrive. The times they list are not accurate.
