The Blue Mountain is nestled within the Blue and John Crow Mountains, a recognized World Heritage Site. The initial segment of the trail, known as Jacob’s Ladder, is a steep and winding path that ascends the side of the Blue Mountain. From this point, the distance to the peak is 5.8 miles (9.2 km). The breathtaking views along the route are sure to captivate you – and be on the lookout for bird species such as the chestnut-bellied cuckoo, rufous-throated solitaire, crested quail dove, and Jamaica’s national bird, the doctor bird.
The Blue Mountain Peak stands as Jamaica’s highest point at 7,402 feet (2,256 meters). It is said that on a clear day, you can catch a glimpse of Cuba from the summit. This region is also renowned for its coffee.
