The second part leads up to the Caldeira then to the eastern tip of the Island and from there back to Horta. In-between the attractions there are short drives of 15 to 20 minutes.

This ‘Faial in a Day’ experience is ideal for those keen to delve deeper into Faial, its heritage, and its inhabitants. The journey takes you along the southern shoreline, starting from Horta and culminating at the Capelinhos Volcano. Come lunchtime, you’ll enjoy a fulsome picnic in one of Faial’s leisure parks. Private tour with Andreas - Today we booked a full day tour of the island with Andreas. It was a wonderful day with many impressions. Andreas is a funny tour guide. He told us a lot of interesting things about the history of the island and the people. Highly recommended. Everything was well organized and very relaxed. The food was great. We would take this tour again at any time.

Perfect day - My daughter and I enjoyed our tour with Andreas in Faial. He provided great historic information and we were able to see many beautiful areas on the island. We found his stories about living on the island to be fascinating. The lunch in a sheltered stone private area in a lovely park was delicious. Homemade by his wife. Andreas was also very attuned to the weather and planned our day accordingly. We loved this tour.

A Tour Tailored to our Interests - Andreas Metz hosted us on a relaxing, entertaining and interesting full day tour of Faial. In the comfortable vehicle, we learned the history from first settlers to present day. Impacts of earthquakes and volcanoes, whaling, telegraph communication were some of the topics, along with modern food production, festivals and lifestyle on this island. Andreas is an expert and answered our queries and questions.

Andreas is the best. - Having a good private tour to see the island highlights is the way to go. Andreas was the best, his professionalism with human touch is something I would recommend. Faial with Andreas - We found Faial and Horta a fantastic place to visit and explore. You can not find a better tour and guide. Andreas was our 4th guide on our Azores trip. The first 3 were great but Andreas was the best of the best.

Highly recommended! - I learned more about the island in one day than anywhere else in the Azores.
Andreas was super nice and was flexible in his approach to my needs (e.g. regarding food preferences at the picnic) - he knows his way around very well and I was able to get to know and see all the important places on the island :)
I would therefore book the tour again immediately!

Highly recommend! - Andreas is an amazing guide. We learned so much about Faial from the geographic elements to culture and life on the islands. Andreas had a unique perspective as someone who has lived throughout Europe and has chosen to make a home in Faial with his family. He brought a delightful lunch, skillfully toured through the island, and gave great guidance on other aspects of our trip. We highly recommend!
