Highlights
  • Friends of Moby Dick - Whale Watching - The waters around Húsavík are home to several species of cetaceans, including the more common Humpback and Minke whales, and rarer visitors, such as Blue, Fin and Killer whales. White-beaked dolphins can also be seen on some of our tours. These magnificent creatures are a sight to behold, and our team of whale-watching experts works tirelessly to provide our guests with an adventure of a lifetime.

In addition to whale watching, our tours offer breathtaking views of the beautiful Icelandic coastline and the chance to spot sea birds. The Atlantic Puffin can be spotted between May and mid August. Our boat Moby Dick provides a comfortable platform for observing wildlife. Our knowledgeable guides will provide a wealth of information about whales, their ecology and habitat, and other marine species.

During a typical whale-watching tour, we will head West towards Kinnarfjöll mountain range, where the highest point is Syðri Háganga *(1284m). Across Skjálfandi Bay, we can expect to see the Humpback whale, and occasionally the Minke whale, and sometimes other species like Blue or Fin whale. We will spend the rest of our tour with the whales and return to Húsavík after 2.30/3 hours.

Amazing 100% recommended - Excellent experience! We could see the whales! Also the boat ride is great and the company provides you with waterproof rompers which we appreciate. Also the Guide I was taking us was very friendly, explained very well and was very attentive to security and what we need.

A memorable trip - Loved our trip on this boat and were lucky to see 2 different whales. The very sunny weather helped make it extra special. Our guide Martha was incredibly knowledgeable about whales. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing experience, awesome guide and closeup whale sightings! - What an amazing experience! We saw 5 different humpback whales and at some moment they were so close to our boat, so we could see their beautiful fin patterns and how they were feeding. Incredible! Our guide was so nice and enthusiastic about the whales, it was a joy listening to her!

Whale watching and Puffin sighting - This was a wonderful experience that we will always cherish. We had at least 10 sightings of whales and we saw puffins. It was a beautiful summer day! Our guide spoke very extensively about the sea life. A lot of fun!

Humpbacks - It was surely an experience if you haven’t been on a boat. The captain of the boat and the guide were good. But the whale watching part was underwhelming. All we saw were a few humps and a couple of tails.

Nice experience - Very friendly staff, boat ok, average prices with other operators. It 'was a good experience, and we had a lot of luck both for the weather conditions, and for the whale watching that there was, of course we would have liked to see the jump out of the water, but we are not in an aquarium (luckily). In the price they provide you with the waterproof and cold suit
