Shanghai-Beijing by High-Speed Train
Shanghai - In the morning, a driver will collect you from your hotel at 5 a.m. and take you to Shanghai Hongqiao Train Station for train G2 (07:00-11:36) or a similar service to Beijing.
Beijing - Upon your arrival in Beijing (please arrive before 12:00), a guide will greet you at the train station exit, holding a sign with your name. You will then board a private car to begin the tour.
Mutianyu Great Wall - After lunch, you will explore the Mutianyu Great Wall, the most picturesque section of the Chinese Great Wall. Constructed in the early Ming Dynasty in 1368, it extends 5400 meters. With 90% of the Mutianyu Great Wall covered by vegetation, each season offers visitors its unique beauty. If hiking is too strenuous, a cable car is available as an option (at your own expense).
On the return to the city, there will be a stop at Bird’s Nest and Water Cube for an exterior visit and photo opportunities. Return to the hotel is expected around 17:30.
Beijing-Shanghai by High-Speed Train
Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) - At 08:00 am, a guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in the Beijing city area. The first stop is a walk on Tiananmen Square, the heart and symbol of Beijing and the largest city square in the world. This expansive square has hosted numerous public celebrations, ceremonies, and demonstrations for over a century.
Forbidden City-The Palace Museum - Next, you will visit the Forbidden City (closed on Mondays), one of the largest and most well-preserved wooden palace complexes. It served as the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1912), housing 24 emperors.
Notice: As the Forbidden City is closed on Mondays, the itinerary will be adjusted if your visit falls on a Monday.
Temple of Heaven - After lunch (at your own expense), you will visit the Temple of Heaven. Situated in the southern part of Beijing, it served as a complex of sacrificial buildings where Ming and Qing Dynasty Emperors prayed for peace and harvest.
Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) - The final stop today is the Summer Palace, located on the western outskirts of Beijing, covering 290 hectares. Built during the Qianlong Era of the Qing Dynasty, it was modeled after the layout of West Lake in Hangzhou. It is now the largest and most well-preserved imperial garden in China.
After the tour, you will be escorted back to your hotel in Beijing or transferred to the train station for train G27 (19:00-23:29) or a similar service back to Shanghai.
Shanghai - Upon arrival, a Shanghai driver will meet you and transfer you back to your hotel in the downtown area.
