I was charmed - I spent a very enjoyable morning in the company of Ellen, who guided me around the streets of the French Concession and old Shanghai town.  I got lost and was late for our rendezvous at the hotel, but luckily Ellen had persevered and was still waiting for me. Ellen is a mine of information on the history of the area, and at each stop we made, she would recite interesting historical facts. We made numerous stops along the way, including Fuxing Park, where there is a French and a Chinese garden. Ellen explained how the Chinese garden's design was culturally influenced.  We watched groups of retired Chinese who used the park for social activities, including singing and Tai Chi. We also made stops at restaurants to savour local food. My favourite being the pork dumplings. The bike ride lasted about 4 hours, covering quite a few miles and many interesting sites. Afterwards, I was fitter and richer in the knowledge of this wonderful area of Shanghai. I would highly recommend this bike tour, and if you are lucky, you might get Ellen as your guide.

Shanghai French Concession area biking - Ellen was amazing, curating the ride with attention to safety, notwithstanding the light rain. Started out with a traditional breakfast snack, and the sights and duration were just right. I ended up going back to one of the sights few days later on my own.

Incredible and Meaningful Tour - This was an incredible tour with Lee, Jordan, and Christina. We got to see the intimate areas of the French Concession, Fuxing Park, and so much more. We learned so much about Shanghai and really really got a feel for the city. Highly recommend this on your first or second day in Shanghai!!

Who knew Shanghai trees were so beautiful - A little rain did not dampen this great morning ride and cultural exchange. Li and Christine showed me the French Concession, great little shops and an impromptu tea tasting.

Beautiful route through Shanghai lets you feel the city. - Li and Christine were great hosts for my solo tour. A little rain did not slow us down. I suppose my favorite was the impromptu tea tasting we did.

Nice way to see old Shanghai. - Nice way to explore old Shanghai. We passed old neighborhoods and modern shopping centers and received good explanations everywhere. Bicycles are fine. Despite the chaos that sometimes prevails in Chinese traffic, you do not have that feeling when you participate in the bike tour.

Awful weather, failure to refund or credit - Torrential rain and storms day of tour, including lightning. Would have been unsafe and incredibly unpleasant to participate. Opted to cancel and requested credit or refund, but was declined. Disappointing.

No sympathy - I arrived 4 days early to participate in a guided tour of China. I had 4 days in Shanghai to do my own thing. I pre booked two tours on consecutive days before I left Australia. I had the misfortune of my baggage being delayed. In the end I had waited for 65 hours for my baggage to arrive. No fault of Viator nor mine. I arrived in Shanghai less than 24 hours before the first tour was to begin. Without a change of clothes, I was unable to participate in either of the pre booked tours. By the time the first tour was to begin I had been wearing the same clothes, a pair of shirts and a T-shirt for 48 hours. There is a no refund policy for cancellation if it is not done with at least 24 hours' notice. I was still in transit at this time not knowing what debacle lay ahead. I am out of pocket and got no sympathy from Viator. I even asked if I could change the date but somehow that was not possible.
