A must-do when visiting Hue - Matthew’s passion and enthusiasm for the history of his city and the Citadel is both infectious and inspiring. The Citadel is HUGE and he expertly guided us through it showing us the real highlights and adding so much more to the experience than aimless wandering. We are not normally guided tour people but we were recommended this tour by friends back home in Australia and we are so pleased we followed their advice. Matthew takes you back in time so you understand the importance of events in Vietnam’s history including the various cultures and events that impacted both this beautiful country and its architecture. Cannot recommend this tour more highly - make the most of your time in Hue and spend a few hours with the lovely and knowledgeable Matthew.

Bringing History to life in Hue - We had the absolute pleasure of having Matthew as our guide during our time in Hue. He introduced us to the Imperial City with incredible detail and brought the history of the Nguyen dynasty to life. His extensive historical knowledge allowed him to dive deep into Vietnam’s fascinating past, and the way he shared it made every moment captivating and engaging. We enjoyed the experience so much that we booked a private tour with him to the Tomb of Tu Duc. This peaceful and beautiful site became even more special through Matthew’s storytelling, which added depth and meaning to everything we saw. He truly has a gift for making history come alive. Thank you so much, Matthew, for an unforgettable experience. We truly appreciated your passion and knowledge, and we wish you all the best for the future. Warm regards, Simon and Miriam

Best tour ever, with Matthew! - This was the best tour I’ve done in Vietnam! Matthew was a wonderful guide. His passion and enthusiasm for the history of his beautiful city really brought it to life and made for a truly memorable afternoon. He had a fantastic knowledge of the Imperial City, but it was his joy in sharing the stories that really brought things alive! I can’t recommend this tour enough, and make sure you get Matthew as your guide!

Excellent Guide and Tour of Hue - Matthew is an exceptional guide. As a university graduate in history he provides excellent and entertaining understanding of people who built and ruled the Citadel and Forbidden City. As well as more recent background on the impact of the Vietnam War and the role of UNESCO in restoring these monuments. Speaking excellent English, Matthew also provided helpful guidance on other attractions to visit in Hue.

Walking tour - What a magical experience! Matthew was great at telling stories and explaining the history of the palace. If you do the afternoon session, try going a little bit earlier so that you can wander around before the site closes.
