Ho Chi Minh Trail Monument - The Ho Chi Minh Trail, also known as the Truong Son Trail, was an intricate network of supply routes extending from North Vietnam to South Vietnam, traversing through Laos and Cambodia.
The trail was named after Ho Chi Minh, the leader of North Vietnam. Its construction began in 1959 by Group 559, a logistical unit of the PAVN. The trail played a crucial role during the Vietnam War, enabling North Vietnam to transport troops, weapons, and supplies to the Viet Cong in South Vietnam.
The trail comprised thousands of miles of dirt roads, footpaths, and waterways, often relocated or concealed to avoid U.S. bombing raids. Despite heavy bombing by the U.S. to disrupt supply lines, the trail was challenging to destroy due to its complexity and the dense jungle terrain.
Khe Sanh Combat Base - Khe Sanh Combat Base was a significant U.S. military installation during the Vietnam War, situated in Quảng Trị Province in northern South Vietnam, near the Laos border. The base gained fame for the 1968 Battle of Khe Sanh, one of the war’s most notable and intense battles.
The base’s strategic location near the borders of North Vietnam and Laos made it vital for controlling the region and intercepting supplies and personnel moving along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
