The Cherry Blossom period in Hunza Valley heralds the arrival of spring and extends up to the onset of the summer months. Typically, this flowering season stretches from March 15 to April 30, offering an alluring panorama for visitors. This journey features travel on the Karakorum Highway, historically part of the ancient Silk Route, and credited with inspiring James Hilton’s depiction of Shangri-La in the Hunza Valley, shared in his narrative after he visited the region just before releasing ‘Lost Horizon.’ Renowned for its early blossoming cherry trees compared to other regions, the valley boasts the millennia-old Altit Fort and the nearly as historic 800-year-old Baltit Fort, both providing striking vantage points over the territory. The valley is nestled amidst towering peaks, with the grand Rakaposhi, the 27th tallest mountain globally, across the Hunza River. Nearby are Spantik Peak, often referred to as the ‘Golden Peak,’ and towards the back of Karimabad lie notable summits including Hunza Peaks, Ultar I & II, and the Ladyfinger Peak.
