These incredible structures, dating back to Egypt’s Fourth Dynasty during the Old Kingdom, were constructed between 2600 and 2500 BCE. The site also includes several temples, cemeteries, and the remains of a settlement where workers lived.
• Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx of Giza, a legendary limestone statue with a lion’s body and a pharaoh’s head, is one of Egypt’s most iconic landmarks. Located in the Giza Necropolis near the Great Pyramids, it dates back to around 2500 BCE, during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre. Measuring 73 meters (240 feet) in length and 20 meters (66 feet) in height, it is the largest monolithic statue in the world.
