A desert that hides treasures - To get to the desert, we were treated to a real Jeep safari, like a rollercoaster, it was really great! Arriving there, we were briefed by our guide Arabi, who recently learned French but is doing very well. We met a family from the Bedouin tribe, who showed us their way of making bread. We also had the opportunity to take a short camel ride. We climbed a very large rock to gain height, observe the sunset and take magnificent photos. After a small meal carefully prepared by the Bedouins, we were able to observe the stars and constellations. Climbing the big rock can be difficult, but absolutely not impossible. The organization and the team, nothing to complain about.

Amazing! - Probably the highlight of our trip to Hurghada! Amazing from beginning to end especially the engagement with the Bedouin locals and children. The meal was divine. The driver drove extremely fast, which made my kids and I feel unsafe, which was the only detractor.

The magic of stargazing in the Egyptian desert - Experience an adventure into the magical Egypt desert. Climb a rocky hill to watch the impressive sunset, visit a Bedouin settlement to partake in a hot refreshing tea, have an encounter with a family of camels which you can ride and enjoy a BBQ dinner. When it becomes dark enjoy the stargazing with Mohammad Araby, a polyglot, a poet, a personality and an astronomer. Listen to him identify and explain the wonders of the sky at night - the stars, the planets, the constellations and their linkage to ancient mythologies.

The stargazing was incredible - memories to last a lifetime - Overall we really enjoyed this trip. One or two little niggles that could have been avoided with a lot better communication. We were expecting a jeep transfer, however it is now a minibus transfer, no issue if we’d known in advance, as it was a little disappointing. Also be aware the sunset view at the top of the dunes is accessed by fairly strenuous walk up a rough track, again no issue if it is made clear beforehand but you will need proper footwear, walking boots/sandals as parts are quite steep, very rocky in places and uneven. That’s the niggles out of the way! It didn’t detract from our enjoyment in the end, we were a family group of five from 9-57 and all enjoyed it equally from the tea in the tent to the fabulous music/singing, lovely food and atmosphere. The astronomy guide was so knowledgeable and so passionate, the stargazing phenomenal- total bucket list experience. There was an initial talk with him using a laser pen to point out all the different stars/constellations and then the opportunity to use the two telescopes to view Jupiter and the nebula of Orion. Amazing - though in honesty the real “stars” of the show were twinkling in their thousands over our heads - mind blowing in their number and beauty. I hope I will always be able to see that sky twinkling in my memories when I close my eyes. Thank you

Something different - We had a lovely afternoon. The pick up was very prompt from our hotel and we were taken to the bedouin camp where we were given insight into the bedouin way of life. Then we had a very quick camel ride before climbing up the hill to watch the sunset. There was a photographer with us the whole who provided his photos for a very reasonable fee. The view of the sunset was stunning and then we were provided dinner while we waited for the stars to come out. Moussa was very knowledgeable and clearly has a passion for sharing his love of the night sky.

Good value, could enhance this - It took an hour and a half for quite a short drive including pickups from el Gouna. The walk sunset and Bedouin hospitality were good. Nasser was an excellent guide on the astronomy. The location was not remote enough for a really good night sky, el Gouna lights were visible The telescope was ok but not impressive. Excellent value for money at £30 however

Amazing views but a basic camp - The jeep was very packed with people, overloaded. My husband and I had to sit in the front passenger seat which was not for two people. There was no air conditioning in the jeep so it was very warm even with the windows down. The driver was very careful. We arrived at the camp which was extremely basic. The family provided us with a welcome tea and they were lovely people. We got some amazing photos of the sunset. We saw the moon through a scope which was amazing and the guide took a video for us. We did not see any stars on the scope as we had no time, there were too many people and only one scope. The guide explained the constitutions of the stars which was very interesting. The toilet was extremely basic, no flush and no where to wash your hands. The barbeque food was adequate and tasty. Make sure you take hand wipes and toilet paper and plenty of water.

unsure - We were picked up from the hotel in a jeep. The trip to the Bedouin village was super fun. We drove off-road and were rocked by the jeep. The Bedouin village was beautiful and frightening at the same time. It was great to get an insight into how these people live. However, I was unsure whether it was all really real. The photographers are totally pushy and ignore it when the children don't want to be photographed. The camels there were kicked if they didn't do what the people there wanted. The geese were cornered and caught by the photographers, a small pony was held for pictures while another person had to hold its mother. After we were shown around, we went up a mountain, where we watched the beautiful sunset. Afterwards we had something to eat and drove home. On the way home, we saw the camels being whipped again.

Tourist trap. - Didnt really rate this trip. I feel like it’s more of a mock up set. There was like one building, and three camels.. they said they live simply and get around on camels but the man had a van and a motorbike up the back of the little house. The camels were exhausted and getting pulled around by there noses and honestly my heart just broke a bit.. we gave them water, and they were so dehydrated.. I would have preferred to know this was just a mock set up if I’m honest.. maybe that’s on me for not researching better, but this is 100% a tourist trap.. but I still felt it was a cool educational point to see how boudin people do live to a point. However this just felt fake and considering they live in tribes it just felt like a bit of a lie all the info they were giving us that they lived there everyday when they clearly didn’t… it was just one family just carting three camels around.. You do a two minute camel ride, then all get in a huge line to see the moon through a telescope and have a little buffet tea which is potatoes and rice and chicken.. the highlight for us was the drive to it, our driver was an absolute scream and I think that made the trip for us not feel like a total rip off.. he had us laughing from the minute we got in the truck. Our guide was also lovely and informative. When we also paid, the man tried to take double money off me for the National park entrance, and that put a dampener on it.. like its not a lot but it’s just the fact that at every turn in our time in Egypt I have felt like I have had to be more vigilant than anywhere else about people trying to rob us out our money. So that may be another thing you want to be vigilant about when booking this trip.
