Highlights
  • The Geothermal Park Hveragerdi - Once picked up, our initial stop on the Golden Circle Tour is the Iceland Hot Springs Park in Hveragerði. A brief drive will bring you to the Eilífur Geyser, which erupts every 15-20 minutes. Stroll along the park’s trails, enveloped by bubbling hot springs that highlight Iceland’s geothermal marvels. Savor hverabrauð, a sweet bread baked using geothermal heat in the on-site bakery. Inside the greenhouse, witness banana plants thriving in this unique geothermal setting.
  • Kerid Crater - Next stop is at Kerid, a brightly colored volcanic crater.
Kerid is only a few thousand years old, and the crater’s colorful appearance comes from iron deposits in the rocks. The caldera is also covered with lush banks of velvet-green moss.
Inside the crater lies a shallow turquoise-colored lake, making Kerid one of the most striking sights seen anywhere in Iceland.
  • Gullfoss Waterfall - Gullfoss, or The “Gold Falls” in English, are a two-step waterfall fed by the nearby glacier at Langjokull with freezing meltwater, thundering down 30 meters into a deep ravine.
The power of these cascades creates a lot of mist and spray, so you might get a little wet if you get too close! On sunlit days, that means there will be constant displays of brilliant rainbows too.
  • Geysir - The next stop on your Golden Circle tour is Geysir, the highlight of the Haukadalur geothermal area. Bubbling with “hot spring” activity, this is the place that gave geysers all over the world their name. There you can admire Strokkur - an active geyser erupting every 10-15 minutes.
  • Thingvellir National Park - Thingvellir National Park is a place where you will see the astonishing spectacle of continental plates tearing apart.
Here you can stand with one foot in America and the other in Europe, on either side of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
Thingvellir is a place of great historical and cultural significance for Icelanders. It’s where its first parliament met for a thousand years, as chieftains would gather to make laws, dispense justice and settle disputes. Some were even executed in the “drowning pool”!
  • Hvammsvik Hot Springs - At the end of the day, the bus will head towards Whale Fjords, leading you to Hvammsvik Hot Spring. Here, you can immerse yourself in the perfect combination of geothermal water from 1400 meters below the surface and seawater from the nearby Atlantic Ocean. This extraordinary blend of water forms a continuous flow that cascades between pools, spills over their edges, and returns to the ocean, guaranteeing exceptional water quality and purity.

Hvmmsvik is a great way to end your day exploring the Golden Circle - This was a great trip! All the sights we visited were beautiful and we were given an ample amount of time at each stop to explore our surroundings. Hvmmsvik Spa is an astounding place to soak in geothermal pools and take in the natural beauty of your surroundings.

Joining Ingo's Wolfpack for the Day! 🐺🌈🍞 - Ingo was great!! Enjoyed being part of Ingo's wolfpack for the day, it was so wonderful to get to see all the sights and not worry about parking or access. The drop off locations were phenomenal, the surprises along the way (ice cream and feeding horses!!) were so wonderful, and ultimately I would recommend everyone does this tour if they're able! The best part is none of this was rushed, and it takes so much work and experience to make it seem seamless and easy, and Ingo did this beautifully! The time at the Hvammsvík Spa at the end of the day was one of my favorite experiences this year so far. Definitely opt for the spa, you won't regret it! Stunning landscape and wonderful experience all around 11/10 stars :)

Hits the attractions and a private thermal pool! - The tour hits most of the golden circle attractions. The guide shares lots of information along the way. Ending at the private hot springs really sets this one apart. A perfect ending to a great day. Bus is very comfortable and clean. Highly recommended.

Signed up for a 3-day tour and a1-day tour, recommend Christina’s tour - I signed up for a 3-day tour to south coast + golden circle and a 1-day tour to Snaefellsnes. The 3-day tour is actually a combination of a 2-day tour and a 1-day tour. My guide for the 2-day tour is Christina and she is my favorite guide among 10+ guides I met in Iceland. She gave us a lot of recommendations and information during her drive. She speaks English clearly with no accent. What I like most about her is that she has a white board, which shows all the stops she planned for the day and marks up all the toilet and snacks in the plan, so you can get better prepared. In my opinion, the tour experience depends on weather + tour guide + punctuality of other guests. I also signed up some tours from other company, I have to say the quality of big tour companies are more or less the same, what really matters is the tour guide. So I would prefer to sign up Christina’s tour if I come to Iceland again. Just one thing to notice is that the tour guide are rotating, means it’s hard to predict who is your guide when you sign up, I guess you can only know it by emailing NiceTravel before you book the tour…

Great Small Group Tour - Our tour had Christina for a guide. She was well-prepared and very personable. The stops at the geothermal spots were great; it was interesting to try hot spring eggs and bread at the first geothermal stop! The short hikes at the volcanic crater, waterfalls, and national park were well worth it, with some stunning views. Ending the day at Hvammsvik was great, though the timing of our tour meant that we weren't there at high tide. So we didn't get to have the full "ocean pouring directly into the hot spring" experience. Even so, the view and hot springs made it worth it.
