The journey through the geothermal terrain leads to Álftavatn, passing through Hrafntinnusker, known for its obsidian desert. The route continues towards the overnight destination at Álftavatn Lake, with views of Mt. Reykjafjöll and the scenic Jökultungur (glacier tongue) area.

Landmannalaugar – Álftavatn:
Distance: 24km (15mi).
Walking time: 7-9 hours.
Ascent: 470m (1540´).

Álftavatn - Emstur
Emstrur – Þórsmörk – Seljalandsfoss / Brú Basecamp / Reykjavík
Thorsmork - Departing from Emstur, the journey continues to Þórsmörk, walking alongside the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. As the descent to Almenningar begins, the landscape transforms with the appearance of trees. With the Laugavegur trail behind, Þórsmörk is reached, offering a stunning oasis hidden behind the Eyjafjallajökull glacier.
From Þórsmörk, the route leads back to Brú Base, with a final stop at the magnificent Seljalandsfoss waterfall! The return to Brú Base is expected in the afternoon.
