Join us on our Glacier Lagoon day trip as we explore the South coast of Iceland and journey towards Europe’s biggest glacier, Vatnajökull. This massive ice cap, which envelops over 8 percent of Iceland, is approximately 8,100 km2 (3,100 sq mi) in size, making it as large as the US state of Delaware!
Upon reaching the Vatnajökull National Park, you’ll experience the grandeur of nature in its full force. This becomes even more evident when we get to the vast glacial lake Jökulsárlón, located in the south-east edge of the Vatnajökull National Park. The lake was formed as a result of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier’s retreat since the 1930s. Over time, the lagoon’s size has varied owing to glacier melt.
