Inside of Þórsmörk is different hiking possibilities depending on your wishes. On our way to Þórsmörk, we also stop the canyons like Stakkholtsgjá and even at Nauthúsagil, a small beautiful canyon.

Highlight of our week in Iceland! - We had such a fantastic adventure with our 7-year-old and 9-year-old, who absolutely loved the giant black sand beach and trek into Thorsmork, especially the river crossings, exploring a beautiful cave, Stakkholtsga, and the short but steep Valahnjukur hike with incredible views of the valley and glaciers. We also love that Midgard is a family-owned company and enjoyed a delicious dinner back at Midgard Base after the tour. And we loved our guide, Anna!

Thorsmork super jeep - We really enjoyed our super jeep day tour in to Thorsmork. Our guide made sure that all physical capabilities were catered for and the views after a short hike were outstanding. Highly recommend the tour as it takes you where your 4x4 can’t go due to the river crossings. We also enjoyed a quick meal at the end at Midgards restaurant. Great food at a reasonable price!

Amazing tour and amazing guide! - Amazing off road tour! Was such a privilege to be able to go places we never could go on our own. Our tour guide Carlos was FANTASTIC! Super engaging, funny, and knew an immense amount about Iceland. Highly recommend this tour!

Unforgettable experience with Fred! - Our Super Jeep Thorsmork tour with Midgard Adventures was hands down the best part of our trip, and it was all thanks to our expert guide, Fred! There were only four of us in the group, which made the experience feel personal and special. Fred was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the landscape and history of the area, but he was also hilarious, keeping us entertained all day.
One of the highlights was when Fred convinced us to take off our shoes and wade through a small pool of frezzing cold water to discover a hidden waterfall. It was an amazing and unique experience we never would have found on our own. This tour was truly a blend of adventure, fun, and breathtaking scenery.
If you’re considering booking with Midgard Adventures, don’t hesitate! And if you’re lucky enough to get Fred as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic time.

Top choice from our week in Iceland - This was one of the highlights of our month in Iceland and Scandinavia, and probably the best thing we did during an entire week in Iceland. Because we like to hike, we were worried that this would be just a sit-in-the-jeep-for-hours-on-end kind of trip. We were very wrong! There were frequent excursions to see various canyons, waterfalls, glaciers, amazing sights. The cherry on top, of course, was the longer hike to an incredible viewpoint—well worth the climb. Our guide Carlos added so much to the day, telling us about facets of Icelandic culture, what we were seeing, and so much more. He added immensely to the trip—as we’ve discovered, a guide can make all the difference, and he did. The staff at the meeting place were friendly and helpful, as well, and the lunch that we purchased from them for the trip (I’m gluten-free) was fabulous, filling, well worth it! My husband hesitated about the price initially but agreed that it was money and time so well spent. Worried about the weather? There were clouds and rain off and on, but we had a great day, anyway. As is true anywhere in Iceland, make sure you have great outdoor clothes. I never wore less than five layers.

Fantastic way to see þorsmőrk! - Our great guide, “Palm,” took us on a fantastic tour in the Super Jeep. Our first stop was a black sand beach with a view of Vestmannæyjabær. From there we went into the þórsmőrk reserve, across lava fields, streams, etc., to reach the beautiful glaciers, canyons, and mountains of the area. Palm described the Eyjafjallajőkull and Gigjőkull glaciers/eruptions and patiently answered all of our endless questions. After a picnic lunch at the hut-to-hut trekking area, some of us hiked the Valajnúkur trail where the 360 views were spectacular. We rounded out the trip by a couple of stops at some beautiful canyons.
The Super Jeep Tour was a highlight of our time spent in Iceland! We highly recommend it to anyone with an adventuresome spirit!

Private super jeep tour - Thorsmork - AMAZING! - We were visiting Iceland from Australia for a first visit. We had organised the itinerary through Nordic Visitor and we wanted to add an extra day for a day trip to the Highlands (we were staying in Selfoss). We decided on a private tour (cost A$3,000) because we wanted the flexibility of being able to have some input into the day and also set the pace. Dealing with Midgard was very easy - all interactions with the team were excellent with prompt replies and helpful advice etc. In the end we decided to leave the destination open at the time of booking until we arrived on the day and could assess weather etc in the various areas available to us. We wanted to do some hiking (keen on photography) and wanted to be out of the jeep as much as possible. So Thorsmork was the best pick for us. What an amazing day - our driver (hello Marjolyn!) was fantastic. She mapped out visits to the most amazing places, took photos of us, gave a great commentary, stopped when we wanted. She was lots of fun and a fabulous driver (those river crossings!!). We were out for almost 9 hours. We had lunch included in our trip and we also booked dinner at the Midgard base for our return. In all, an excellent day and well worth it. We highly recommend Midgard Adventures!

Highly recommend! This is worth every ISK! - What a blast! We had so much fun. Our guide, Ragnor was fun to be with! We drove out to the black sand beaches along the south coast and then into the heart of glacier country. We had many stops along the way to check out the scenery and take pictures. After climbing up a small mountain we had a great lunch and then back in the 4x4 for more adventure.

Unforgettable Experience!!! - Our guide Carlos from Portugal made our day today unforgettable!!! You can tell that he is passionate about what he do’s. He shared all the interesting information about the tour, he was an excellent driver, super friendly and knowledgeable. I could do this tour again and I would love to do it again with Carlos or Gujon.

Super Jeep tour….super. - Tour was excellent. Our guide was informative. He always stayed with us on the hikes. We got up close to a glacier. It was fun to ride through the rivers. I would highly recommend this tour.
