• Golconda Fort - Golconda Fort, also known as “Shepherd’s Hill,” is a fortified citadel and an early capital city of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (c.1512–1687). The region is famous for producing some of the world’s most renowned diamonds, including the colorless Koh-i-Noor, now owned by the United Kingdom. There are 365 steps one way to experience the full stories and panoramic views of the plains.
• Qutb Shahi Tombs - The Qutb Shahi Tombs are situated in the Ibrahim Bagh (garden precinct), near the famous Golconda Fort in Hyderabad, India. They house the tombs and mosques built by various kings of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. The galleries of the smaller tombs are single-storied, while the larger ones are two-storied. At the center of each tomb is a sarcophagus that lies above the actual burial vault in a crypt below. The domes were originally adorned with blue and green tiles, of which only a few pieces remain.
• Lumbini Park - Lumbini Park is a small urban public park spanning 7.5 acres, adjacent to Hussain Sagar. It is named after Lumbini in Nepal and is dedicated to Lord Buddha.
• Hussain Sagar Lake - Hussain Sagar is a heart-shaped lake built by Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah in 1563 AD, covering 5.7 square kilometers and fed by the River Musi. A large monolithic statue of Gautama Buddha, erected in 1992, stands on Gibraltar Rock in the middle of the lake. The lake separates the city center of Hyderabad from its neighborhood, Secunderabad. The maximum depth of the lake is 32 feet.
• Buddha Statue - The world’s largest monolithic granite statue of Lord Buddha, erected in 985, stands at 58 feet (18 m) and weighs 350 tons. It is located on the “Rock of Gibraltar” in the middle of Hussain Sagar. This statue can be reached by a 15-minute boat ride from Lumbini Park.
• Birla Mandir - Birla Mandir is a Hindu temple built on a 280 feet (85 m) high hillock called Naubath Pahad, on a 13-acre plot. The temple was constructed by the Birla Foundation, which has built several similar temples across India, all known as Birla Mandir.
• Telangana State Legislature - The Telangana State Legislative Assembly Building was constructed in 1905 to mark the 40th birthday of the 6th Nizam, Mir Mahboob Ali Khan of Hyderabad state. This white architectural gem of Hyderabad was designed by specially commissioned architects. It adjoins the picturesque public gardens, also known as the famous hanging gardens.
• High Court - The High Court of Telangana is the High Court of the Indian state of Telangana. Founded by the 7th Nizam, H.E.H Mir Osman Ali Khan, it was initially set up as the High Court of Hyderabad for the then Princely State of Hyderabad Deccan. It was later renamed the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, established on 5 November 1956 under the States Reorganisation Act, 1956.
• Charminar - The landmark of Hyderabad, built nearly 400 years ago. There are steps to ascend the minarets for a full view of the old city, but these steps are closed every Friday. Admission fees can be paid directly.
• Laad Bazaar - Laad Bazaar is an ancient market famous for bangles, located on one of the four main roads branching out from the historic Charminar. “Laad” means lacquer, which is used to make bangles adorned with artificial diamonds. This 1-kilometer (0.62 mi) long shopping strip features shops selling bangles, saris, wedding-related items, and imitation jewelry.
• Hyderabad - Irani cafés were originally opened by Zoroastrian Irani immigrants to British India in the 20th century, fleeing Islamic persecution in West Asia and Central Asia. These cafés are popular for Irani chai (tea). Hyderabad is also known for its special Nizamia (Osmania) biscuits.
• Mecca Masjid - Mecca Masjid is a congregational mosque with a capacity of 20,000, built around the 17th century AD by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. Bricks for the mosque were made from soil brought from Mecca. Prayers are offered on Friday afternoons.
