They established Golconda Fort as their capital and ruled during the 16th and 17th centuries. It was the world’s most famous diamond trading hub during the medieval era. Visitors can explore the fortifications, bastions, ancient mosques, ruined barracks, Deccan rock formations, dilapidated palaces, old temples, Durbar Halls, open-air theatres, and more. Climbing over 300 steps to the top of the fort offers a panoramic view of the surroundings. Tourists can journey back in time to experience the rich history of medieval Deccan.
- Qutb Shahi Tombs - This royal necropolis of the Qutb Shahi rulers’ family was constructed in the Indo-Saracenic architectural style during the 16th and 17th centuries. Here, one can see the tombs of kings, their family members, courtesans, royal physicians, funerary mosques, step wells, arches, domes, and minarets, all showcasing the beautiful Islamic architecture of the medieval period, built by the Sultans of the Qutb Shahi Kingdom of Golconda. The Qutb Shahi were one of the five Deccan Sultanates that significantly influenced the socio-cultural landscape of the Deccan region. After this visit, it takes another 30 to 40 minutes to reach your hotel.
