- Charminar - Charminar, meaning four minarets, is a beautiful historic monument in the heart of old Hyderabad city, constructed in 1591 by the Qutb Shahis. It was built as a replica of the tomb of Imam Hussain and includes a madrasa, mosque, and stunning stucco decorations. Charminar holds architectural, religious, and historical significance and is the most visited monument in Hyderabad, surrounded by bustling historical markets. Built in 1594 AD in memory of Imam Hussain’s martyrdom in the battle of Karbala, it features beautiful and colorful Persian mosaic tiles. It was partially damaged by the Musi River floods in 1908 AD. The Ashurkhana includes sites like the Niyaz Khana, Naqaar Khana, Sarai Khana, Abdar Khana, Langar Khana, Makan-e-Mujawer, Daftar-e-Mujawer, and Alawa Chabutra. After Aurangazeb’s conquest of Golkonda, the Ashurkhana was used as a horse stable for the Mughal cavalry to display Sunni dominance.
