We arrange an evening pick-up from your hotel and embark on a journey to seek the Northern Lights in a cozy coach/mini bus. Also known as Aurora, after the Roman goddess, these vibrant lights perform a mesmerizing ballet in the sky, creating various patterns and forms. We venture away from the artificial lights of Akureyri towards more secluded areas to increase our chances of spotting the Northern Lights. Upon locating the lights, we ensure you have ample time to capture numerous photographs. Throughout history, the Northern Lights have been referred to by various names. The Greeks named this spectacle the ‘Dance of the Spirits’. In the medieval period in Europe, these lights were often considered as divine messages. As per ancient Icelandic folklore, these splendid light formations in the sky were thought of as the result of angels in heaven dancing, their outfits creating these magnificent luminous shapes.
