Magical Ice Caves – Exceeded All Expectations! - We booked our Ice Cave tour through the “Guide to Iceland” website, choosing the 9:30 am departure time, which was 30 minutes before sunrise. We met our tour operator at the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon parking lot. (If using Apple Maps, search for “Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon Café” for accurate directions.) The parking lot has restrooms, which was a convenient stop before the 3.5-hour tour. There were several tour operators in the parking area, so make sure to locate your specific group.
Our guide was Björk, and our driver was Linda—Björk’s mother-in-law. We even met Linda’s husband, who was changing a tire on one of the tour trucks. It was heartwarming to see this tightly knit family business in action!
The ride from the meeting spot to the parking area near the ice cave entrance took about 20 minutes. During the drive, Björk provided fascinating insights into Iceland’s history, geology, and glaciers. It was evident that both Björk and Linda truly love what they do.
Upon arriving at the cave entrance, we were given helmets and headlamps. There was a short walk and climb to the cave, which wasn’t overly challenging. We brought our hiking sticks, and I’d highly recommend bringing your own—they were invaluable for navigating the terrain.
Our group consisted of about 15 people. Although there were many other groups on the glacier, the tour operator managed the logistics beautifully, ensuring a smooth and organized flow. Inside the cave, we explored several chambers. This was our first time in an ice cave, and it was absolutely incredible. The crystal-clear ice, illuminated by natural light, created a mesmerizing blue halo effect. For the best photos, I recommend turning off your flash to capture the stunning blue ice walls.
We spent around 2.5 hours inside the cave, and at no point did we feel rushed. While there were some small climbs and ascents, they were manageable, especially with the help of hiking sticks.
I highly recommend this ice cave tour—it’s a breathtaking experience that you won’t forget. We’re still in awe! Björk and Linda were exceptional guides, approachable and enthusiastic, always ready to answer our questions.
This tour is a must-do, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience

Blue Ice, the colors of nature and a beautiful emotion - I recommend this beautiful, easy experience, not very demanding and suitable for many people. Tour at 1pm. The meeting point is well signposted in the lagoon car park. They were kind and punctual. The Jeep was comfortable and was driven carefully. Laura, our guide, after providing us with crampons and helmets and giving us some suggestions, led us on foot to the entrance of the cave (easy route). The interior of the cave is evocative with the colors of the ice which range from light blue to an intense blue. All very interesting and fascinating.

Spectacular landscapes and amazing experience! - This was one of the most amazing tours I've ever experienced. Bjork was a great guide, very knowledgeable and throughout the whole tour she told us really cool facts about the place, it's history and even helped us learn the pronounciation of glacier name in Icelandic. One of the coolest experiences of my trip to Iceland would definately visit again. 🤞🏻

Fantastically 🥶 fish & chip troll tour - Took this tour guide by Bjork today, & was👌...
Bjork is an amazing guide & very knowledgeable. She allowed us to travel at a comfortable speed that suit our groups age, & we were not rushed once we got to the caves. Allowing us all the time we needed to admire these naturally formed ice caves.
Would recommend this for all age & group types.
P.S. keep am eye out for trolls 😉

Incredible!!!! - Bjork was an amazing tour guide!!!!! We did the Crystal Ice cave tour. I found this to be an easy to manage tour. Very adaptable for all skill levels. Bjork took her time to make sure you felt safe and knew how to use equipment. If we had to wait to enter a cave (due to other groups) she made sure to show you other details so it always felt interesting. I liked the pace, you had plenty of time to explore & take pictured. Truly an amazing experience. Highly recommend this company & Bjork!!

Stunning glaciers, great guide - Bjork was our guide around the glaciers and ice caves. She was super knowledgeable and passionate about them. The ice caves were stunning and everybody who visits Iceland in the winter must see them!
This tour was at an easy level being largely flat across the glaciers other than when entering and exiting the ice caves. Prepare for crouching and crawling in those moments (a small fraction of the whole hike).

Experience of a Lifetime! - Fannar was our tour guide and Rannar was our driver (I apologize if I spelled your names wrong!). Anyway, this was definitely one of the highlights of our 7 day adventure. I mean, who gets to go Glacier Hiking and then check out an Ice Cave.... We do! The views and the scenery were stunning and unfortunately the pictures just don't do it justice. Fannar had a great sense of humor while keeping everyone safe. I can tell he's a very experienced tour guide and he has a great way with people. And our driver Rannar did a great job getting us to the glacier and back safely, which if you look the terrain, it's no easy task.
