Highlights
  • Oonnukal-Thodupuzha Road - On the way to Munnar, after 2 hours from Kochi, you’ll reach a place called Oonnukal. We’ve arranged a vegetarian breakfast for you at a restaurant there, which also offers refreshment facilities. After breakfast, you’ll depart for Munnar. On the way, you’ll visit Cheeyappara Waterfalls.
  • Cheeyappara Waterfalls - Located on the Kochi – Munnar highway on the left side of the road, this spot is great for photos, but bathing is prohibited due to slippery and dangerous rocks. There are no entry or parking fees. A few small shops sell local food items. A 15-20 minute stop is recommended.
  • Kundala Dam Lake - Constructed in 1946 for the Pallivasal Hydro Electric Project, Kundala Dam is considered Asia’s No. 1 arch dam. Situated between Top Station and Munnar town, it’s easily accessible and a top spot for photography. Activities like pedal boating, speed boating, and shikara rides are available.

Kundala Dam Travel Tips
• Accessible to all tourists regardless of restrictions.
• Entry is free, but activities like boating and horse riding are chargeable.
• If you’ve already done boating in another Munnar lake, you can skip this.
• A 15-20 minute visit is sufficient if you’re not engaging in other activities.

  • Echo Point - Known for its echo phenomenon, where your voice echoes back due to a large hill opposite the lake. It’s also a great spot for lake photos. Entry fee is Rs 20 per person.
  • Kannan Devan Hills - On the way to Top Station or returning to the city, you’ll see scenic tea plantations. You can stop for photos without any entry fees. Munnar is filled with tea plantations, so you can get great photos anywhere.
  • Mattupetty Dam - Located 13 km from Munnar city towards Top Station, a 20-minute drive. Mattupetty offers a blend of mountains, lake, and greenery, perfect for photos and memorable moments. Unlike Kundala, Mattupetty has extensive tourist facilities including washrooms, a tourist center with a coffee shop, snack bar, cowboy park, children’s park, and speed boating. For the best experience, visit the boating center first, then head to the dam for photos.

Mattupetty Dam Travel Tips
• Walk from Kundala to Mattupetty Dam to see tall blue gum trees if you have time.
• Skip if you’re from a place with many lakes and mountains.
• Accessible to all, including those with disabilities.
• Great for family outings.
• Ideal for shopping for handicrafts and souvenirs.
• No restaurants, but hot noodles and local snacks are available. Expect crowds during holidays and peak seasons, with potential waits of up to an hour for boating tickets or parking.
• Take photos from the dam. After boating, walk across the dam for the best shots, as vehicles can’t park on the dam.

  • Rose Gardens - A botanical garden maintained by KTDC Floriculture Centre, featuring a variety of flowers, not just roses. Located 5 km away on Top Station Road, entry fee is Rs 50 per person.

Travel Tips
• Not recommended for those with mobility issues due to steps.
• Public washrooms available.
• You can purchase plants from the garden.

Expect to finish by 1:00 PM, with an hour lunch break. Munnar city offers many vegetarian and non-vegetarian restaurants. After lunch, a trip to Rajamalai in Eravikulam National Park is organized.

  • Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park - Home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and the largest undisturbed shoal-grassland ecosystem in the Western Ghats. Attractions include:
  1. Anamudi view - At 2695 meters, the highest peak south of the Himalayas.

Escape to Breathtaking Munnar with the Best Driver - Our Munnar trip was beautiful and a great escape from the hectic city with fresh mountain air. Our booking was rather rushed and last minute, so we had doubts, but everything was well organised. The travel agent got in touch with us immediately to accommodate some of our specific requirements as well as to help us with payments for park entrances since international cards were not accepted. But, most importantly, our trip was excellently delivered by our hospitable driver Sooraj, who shared lots of interesting information about the region, drove smoothly and really went above and beyond for us (even, worked overtime) to make sure that our one day in Munnar was albeit short but the best experience. If you are around, book with Srees Tours with confidence, and if you get Sooraj as a companion be sure that you are in best hands!

Good tour, worth doing if you only have 1 dat for Munnar - Good tour overall. Long day but we saw as much as we could . Breakfast and lunch with pick up / drop off was included . Not sure if we managed to get to all the places listed given language barrier (see below). Highliht for us was the Eravikulam National Park. When you get there it’s a long’ish walk to the highest point however you can buy additional ticket for a golf buggy to take you there (it’s not clear when you buy main entrance ticket). That said, we walked and there are some great stops to take photos. Only reason we dated 4* is , whilst the driver / guide was a lovely man, we booked as it’s said he’d be English speaking and we did struggle to communicate and find out where we were going next, how long for and what we might have missed etc . Apart from that good tour
