This exclusive Day Trip starts in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel, airport, or any chosen location in Delhi. You will then travel to Agra in a private air-conditioned vehicle via the renowned Yamuna Expressway, India’s fastest route, which takes approximately 3 to 4 hours (210 km).

Upon reaching Agra, the first destination is the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, a Mughal mausoleum in Agra. Accompanied by a local tour guide, you will explore the Itimad-ud-Daulah, often referred to as a “Jewel box” or “Baby Taj.” This tomb is considered a precursor to the Taj Mahal and was commissioned by Jahangir’s wife, Nur Jahan, for her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg, titled Itimad-ud-Daulah (pillar of the state). Constructed between 1622 and 1628, the mausoleum is set in a large cruciform garden with watercourses and walkways.

The journey continues to Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site also known as Lal Qila, Fort Rouge, and the Red Fort of Agra. This fort, more accurately described as a walled city, was captured by the Mughals in 1526, along with a vast treasure including the Koh-i-Noor diamond. It took 4,000 workers eight years to complete the fort in 1573.

After exploring Agra Fort, enjoy a traditional Indian lunch at an air-conditioned restaurant.

Post-lunch, the tour proceeds to the Taj Mahal with a private local tour guide. As one of India’s most famous tourist attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Taj Mahal showcases intricate marble inlay work with precious and semi-precious stones. Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who passed away in 1631 during childbirth, the monument is a testament to the emperor’s love. Standing before the Taj Mahal, one can feel the profound emotion that inspired its creation.

Later, indulge in shopping in Agra, a key center for handicrafts, especially marble inlay work. The Mughals were avid supporters of art and craft, with Empress Noorjahan herself being skilled in zari embroidery. Agra’s notable handicrafts include leatherware, brassware, carpets, jewelry, and embroidery.
