Highlights

DAY 01: CUSCO – PISCACUCHO (Km 82) – WAYLLABAMBA

Inca Trail - Our inca trail to machu picchu 4 days begins very early from the city of Cusco, our transport takes us to the Ollantaytambo sector where we have free time to have a calm breakfast and then proceed to the Piscacucho sector (Km 82) where we meet with our entire support team (porters and cook). After a brief explanation our experience begins, first we will visit a historical Inca control place called Llactapata (2650 masl / 8692 feet), this is strategically located for access to Machu Picchu. At the end of the visit we begin a new walk towards our lunch point, at the end we continue our trip towards our first camp, Wayllabamba (3000 masl / 9840 feet), where our camping team is waiting for us ready so we can relax as much as possible. Here we will also find small shops where we can buy drinks, snacks or essential items for the trip. One of the best trips ever - Incredible experience!! It is 100% worth doing Inca trails. The food was A1 and it went beyond my expectations to eat it in the middle of the mountain (Lomo saltado, papa a la huancaina,...) The guide Manuel made the 12 hour walk easy to do. 100% recommended

Personalized, breathtaking journey with an amazing, supportive team! - We had an absolutely wonderful experience on this trek, and it’s all thanks to our amazing guide, Juan. He was knowledgeable, caring, checked in frequently, and made us feel very confident and safe throughout the journey. He stayed with us the entire trek and took a “slow and steady” pace that allowed us to reach our base camps in a timely manner but also accounted for the altitude and allotted for several breaks as needed. I learned SO much about the Inca and Quechua people, their traditions, and culture along the way thanks to Juan; having a guide who speaks Quechua is truly essential in my opinion since he was able to communicate with the porters, cooks, and local families we met along the way. In addition to Juan’s expertise on the trail, we were so fortunate to have such an amazing team of porters and cooks. Each time we arrived at a lunch stop or dinner, they had everything set up and we were treated to AMAZING meals. I was never hungry and always so satisfied with the meals— very high quality! Overall, a stunning and life-changing experience on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. After seeing how other companies operated on the trail, I’m so thankful we decided to go with Peru Top Experiences. At the end, we even had someone from another group ask us which company we used! Needless to say, I will be recommending Peru Top Experiences to friends and family— and of course telling them to make sure they request Juan as their guide for the BEST experience!

Unforgettable Authentic Experience with Best Guide - I can’t say enough about how great our experience was with Peru Top Experiences! My girlfriend and I signed up for a group tour but due to some complications with other passengers and travel we ended up being the only two on the 4 day classic Inca trail trek. Our guide Juan was undoubtedly one of the best guides on the trail and took genuine interest in getting to know us and sharing his culture and experiences, which were far reaching. His passion for sharing his Quechua roots, historical and spiritual significance of different archeological sites, wildlife etc.. was truly incredible and exactly the experience we were looking for. Juan took the lead during the trek and helped with pacing (for reference we are fit, hike the white mountains of northeastern US frequently and in our lower 30s) which proved to be crucial especially at elevation. This is not the experience we saw with some other groups that had passengers dictating pace. On day two climbing up to dead woman’s pass many groups passed us early moving very fast, by the time we reached the summit we had passed them all and our legs were fresh and lungs doing well, we owe this to Juan’s experience in the mountains and jungle which is extensive! Meals were delicious and ranged through several delicious soups, chicken and beef dishes (pasta & meatballs, stuffed chicken breast, pancakes, etc…) and our cook and porters were fantastic. If you’re looking for a “hoo-rah”, matching t-shirts experience then this isn’t the place, but if you want a truly unforgettable experience with authentic Quechua roots I can’t recommend Peru Top Experiences enough. It was truly a once in a lifetime journey with an amazing crew of local people who are proud of their culture.

Wonderful experience! - Incredible experience! The journey was difficult and we were accompanied by our guide Alfredo at all times. We arrived tired from walking and they always waited for us with a smile, food and tents ready so we could rest, recover and continue the next day! The guide's explanations are super clear and enriching. Without a doubt an experience that is very worthwhile!

Perfect ! - My husband and I did the Inca Trail for 4 days - 3 nights, it is a unique adventure with beautiful views, all organized by Andrea from the Peru Top Experience agency. It was excellent and also exhausting, so I recommend having good physical training to enjoy the journey to the fullest. Andrea also organized other activities for us in Cusco and also in Lima.
