Highlights
  • 140 W Washington St - This historic theater is known for its grand architecture and chilling ghost stories. Staff and visitors have reported eerie encounters with a ghostly figure believed to be that of a former actor who still lingers in the shadows.
  • Indiana State Capitol - The Indiana State Capitol holds more than just history within its walls. Tales of disembodied footsteps and mysterious apparitions, including that of a Civil War soldier, have left many wondering if the past truly ever leaves this place.
  • Monument Circle - Monument Circle, a bustling hub by day, takes on a different aura after dark. Some say the spirits of soldiers and pioneers wander the square, drawn to the towering Soldiers and Sailors Monument that honors their legacy.
  • 20 N Pennsylvania St - This lively sports pub has a darker side when the lights go down. Patrons have reported sudden chills and the unsettling feeling of being watched, perhaps by a spectral fan who never left the game.
  • Indianapolis City Market - The James O’Donnell Monument stands as a somber tribute, but it’s also the site of strange happenings. Some visitors claim to have seen ghostly figures and heard whispered voices near the monument, especially on quiet nights.
  • 21 E New York St - The Benjamin Harrison Memorial honors the 23rd U.S. President, but there’s a rumor that his spirit may not rest entirely in peace. Late-night passersby have occasionally reported sightings of a shadowy figure resembling Harrison himself.
  • 350 N Meridian St - Once a vibrant social hub, the Indianapolis Athletic Club has its share of ghost stories. After a tragic fire in the 1990s, eerie noises and the presence of shadowy figures have been reported by those who walk past its historic facade.

Relaxed, fun tour - I took my 3 children (ages 19, 16, and 14) on this tour while we were in Indianapolis on a road trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared many different stories about the history of Indianapolis and the many deaths that have happened. It lasted a little over 1.5 hours and wasn't too much walking, either. I would recommend even just for the sights and the history, even if you aren't interested in the ghost stories!
