Stunning sunrise, grueling trek not just a hike. Worth it if you are very fit - This was an amazing and once in a lifetime trek, but I’ll warn you that unless you are very fit, like you bike miles a week, trek yearly, go backpacking, or hike trails with at least 2k ft elevation gain multiple times a year this hike will be grueling and almost impossible. If you do those things you will have a good challenge but get to the top in time. TLDR - took 9 hours, 4 up and 4 down, 1 hour at the peak and we made it to the top at 5:30am. Was something like 3k ft of elevation gain, air is super thin so take deep breaths. Wear warm clothes in layers so you can take them off on the way down when the sun is out. It’s cold and windy so dress an accordingly. More than half the ppl who sign up give up, can’t make it up because it’s too physically demanding, or don’t make it in time for sunrise but still get an amazing view. I saw ppl in skimpy little work out shorts climbing up the mountain, they didn’t make it in time for sunrise and were devastated and cold. Our driver Putu was very communicative on what’s app, he confirmed pick up time and where 2 days before. He got to us 10 min early and let us sleep in the van for the 1.5 hour drive to the Pasar temple starting point at 11:30pm at night. Then we met our guide Lennie! She is very sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable of the mountain and area. She is easily the strongest women and person I have met. She does that entire hike 3 times a week often. She has been climbing is since she was 10! Safety came first, she packs extra water in case you don’t have 2L with you. She was the best guide, highly reccomend , she even helps you down as she led me with her hand as the rock scramble down can feel exhausting after 5 hours of hiking. She is very experienced and speaks English very well. She helped us any time we needed it and reminded us to drink water. Would not have been able to do it without her. Worth every dollar and step. She gives you hot tea and coffee at the bottom and top. We were not very prepared and had just running shoes on, was doable, but harder. Would be better to have trail or hiking shoes cuz this path to the 2nd lower summit is still hard, but is more rocky I hear than the true summit path via beskeith temple. Worst the effort and grueling physical and mental challenge if you are fit enough to attempt it. Otherwise do the shorter sunrise batur hike. If you don’t know what a trek is, or what a rock scramble is, better look it up.

Unforgettable Trekking Experience - Our adventure began with the challenge of climbing Mount Agung, standing tall at 3,142 meters. We were fortunate to have our guide, Kaki, who was incredibly friendly and supportive throughout the trek. He shared fascinating stories about the area and kept our spirits high! The trek itself is quite demanding physically. We started our ascent in the dark, which added to the excitement. It took us about 5 to 6 hours to reach the summit, but every ounce of effort was worth it. The sunrise we witnessed was absolutely breathtaking—an unforgettable moment that made all the hard work pay off. The descent took another 4 to 5 hours, so it's essential to be well-prepared physically for this adventure. Overall, I can confidently say that Kaki is the best guide on the island, and this experience is one of a kind. Highly recommended for those seeking an incredible challenge and stunning views!

Well run operator for Mt Agung hike - The tour operator was responsive with my queries and driver was on time to pick us at 9pm from our hotel in Ubud. The driver, himself, is an experienced hiker and provided us with information about the climb during the drive to the temple. We started our climb at around 1115pm from the temple and reached PO2 around 250am, with a few short break in between. Our guide, Juna, is great and took great care of my wife especially during the descend. We did not summit Mt Agung and returned back to PO2 as we felt the steep and slippery trail after POS2 (some near the cliff edge) was too tough for us. Hence we waited from around 4am till sunrise at POS2. The guide started fires 🔥 while we were waiting for sunrise. We still had a beautiful sunrise and sea of clouds scenery in the morning.

Epic adventure - Hard hike but totally worth it. Driver picked us up at 8 and we started the trek at 11pm. We had an hour of rest and our guide lit a fire, 3/4 of the way up. We headed to the top at 4 am for the sunrise. Spectacular. The trip down in daylight felt like a different trek. You need warm clothes for the top and you need to be in good shape. Worth the sweat!

Great Tour - Excellent tour. Bali Trekking Tour were excellent throughout. Pickup was on time and driver was excellent. The hike itself is physically and mentally challenging - be prepared, I saw several people turn round. The guide was excellent, prioritised safety and set a steady pace. The views at the top are stunning - an amazing sunrise. Take warm clothes for the top.

Mt Agung Mission, what a BEAUTY! - Was a mission to get up top but was do worth the effort. The views were absolutely incredible, you feel on top of the world several hundred meters above the clouds. On top of that the guides were amazing and made the trek really fun, they supply you well with water, food, torches, hiking gloves and poles. If you are able to make the time to do this hike it is well worth it. No photos as I dont want to spoil the view you get.

Beautiful climb under excellent guidance - Beautiful tour under the excellent guidance of guide Kadek Rudi. Picked up from our accommodation in the evening by driver Agus. Started climbing around 11:00 PM. Make sure you have enough layers of clothing. The climb starts in the warm, then it becomes increasingly colder. Guide takes your pace into account, but aims to reach the top during sunrise. During the climb there are a number of short breaks and 1 long break. The sunrise is overwhelming, enhanced by the impressive depths around you. Beautiful varied nature; from jungle to fresh volcano mountains. Strolling and clambering uphill. Injury sustained during descent; received a lot of extra help from the guide to descend safely. The tour was an impressive experience and is physically demanding. Good shoes required. Don't be distracted by the locals who try to do the climb as much as possible in flip-flops or with their hands behind their backs. With a bit of luck you will encounter the mountain dog that regularly makes the full climb unaccompanied. This climb is not recommended for people with a fear of heights

Well organised hike - The trip up to mount agung is challenging, but it sure is worth the sweat. With Lennie as our guide, we always felt safe. She definitely knows her mountain, made sure we are okay theoughout the hike amd even carried some coffee and breakfast for us up the hill. Kadek our driver was super friendly, had a great humour and made sure we arrived safe back home, even though we were asleep most of the time in the car, it was a pleasure meeting him.

We stopped when we needed to stop and we paced rigth to get to the top with enough time to see the first light of day. Highly recommend doing this with Juna. Agus, the driver, was on time and very helpful. Hope you enjoy as much as i did.

Great Guys - Very professional and friendly attitude fome the guide and the driver. Magnificent overall experience, despite the brutal humidity during the initial part of the hike. Would definitely recommend the company if you want to go for an unusual adventure.
